"Blame" or "Thank" lol. Great stuff to have if your interested in old systems.

I am.

I put together a WIndows 98 Pentium III (500 Mhz, Slot 1) system from parts from a computer store (they had a whole room full, it was amazing) and, since I had some laying around, stuck it in.

Got an AGP card in the mail somewhere.

Nice, you wouldn't happen to have pictures to show off would you? ...and more specs? That store sounds amazing! There was (might still be) a small shop not far from me that had some old hardware laying around and it was always neat to explore. Otherwise, what I can't score from the recycler, I have to drive about 45 minutes to an hour to the Hackery which has a whole warehouse full of vintage computers and parts. I love it there lol

Now THAT is a sound card! Those are worth a lot now, and I need to add one to my collection one day. Oh man, original manuals and disks too and card looks to be in fantastic shape! 4mb 30 pin ram is pretty rare in and of itself as well.

It’s a gem alright! Usually people only have the cards in varying condition, but I’m really happy I found it entirely complete.

It’s one of those things where the longer you wait to get it, more the prices increase. Don’t wait too long.

They arrived. This Sempron 2800+ is just a Thoroughbred Athlon XP rated against Prescott Celeron instead of Northwood P4.

20201113_165306.thumb.jpg.2f0c2747efe17e301a09632891d8cd4e.jpg

Radeon 9200 will be fun to compare with my 128MB; FX 5600XT, FX 5700LE and 256MB FX 5500. And I can now play Midtown Madness without driver bugs.

My new cooler only handles up to an Athlon XP 3000+, however it should allow some good overclocking when I compare these 3 (Duron also being run a second time on an KT133 based board with SDRAM).

Edit:
The Sempron 2800+ is nearly a rebadged Athlon XP 2600+ (12.5x vs 12x multiplier)

Here's my DEC AlphaStation 250 4/266 connected to a VT220 with DEC LK402-AA keyboard, running OpenBSD/alpha. I use it daily for work (mainly just to SSH into work machines or remotely test connectivity to stuff) and for fun with C development, web browsing with lynx, and some console games.

That's a real Beaut!

Some more lovely 3dfx cards.

5500 PCI with copper Vantec heatsink/fans. Just a shame they need external power.

Just be glad it doesn't require the Voodoo Volts. That'd make it a PITA to get working (if you don't somehow have one).

Edit: Or were you talking about the fans?

As for Voodoo volts, a friend of mine is refurbishing it for me.

At the moment for the V5 6000, I got a this little cable mod :P
Been too lazy for the internal mod; and this is my crown jewel and is usually burried away for safety.

It had potential.

The V4 4500 AGP, even had x4GP support, clearly Napalm, and then Rampage were going to get there.
They just never had that chance sadly.

Maybe not retro, but old. :)

MSI Z170A G45-GAMING and I7 6700, with Arctic CPU cooler. I had built my first custom PC in 2016 with this motherboard and i7 6700k, then I sold the i7 6700k and bought Ryzen 7 3700X. Month ago I bought i7 6700 for my Mother's PC. She will use it only as an office computer.

Replaced the fan stickers on my V5 5500 AGP, and V4 4500 AGP, and PCI.
I do like the sea green PCBs on the V4's.
