Intel Responses to Ryzen

Good evening every one, just bringing this little article where shows Intel seems to promise a better than just a polishing upgrade for the next line up, if they are already bothered to mention 8th gen this soon after the 7th hit the market probably means our wishes for a more competitive market are becoming reality.

I hope this might make up their very first not so great plan being bring the 7740k on a whole new mobo set...

I doubt they will have any major changes ready. This stuff doesn't just happen overnight, it has to go through the pipeline. 

 

The only thing they can really do is lower their prices.

 

It'll probably be a not insignificant amount of time before they have a major performance response ready

Except this means absolutely nothing. Look at the fine print. "In Sysmark". They made the exact same claim when comparing Kaby to Skylake. Look at what Kaby brought us. Zero IPC gains, and moderate clock speed gains and efficiency.

I also remember reading/watching a video where it said that the 8th gen is also on 14nm process since intel been having a ton of trouble moving to 10nm

It is on 14nm. Pay close attention to the source of this article. It mentions cannonlake. Cannonlake is the mobile 15w variants, not the desktop (Coffelake) variants. Which BTW, are also on 14nm.

I don't think they will actually do anything performance wise that is drastic, I also don't think they'll need to as I highly doubt Ryzen can compete performance wise thus it will only possibly affect prices if anything at all, amd may actually have something to brag about with Ryzen but I still doubt it and hence see no reason why intel would need a drastic response as they have the money and branding to win a price war amd does not.

I didn't even bother to read the link tbh... For Intel to bring anything drastic they'll have to do what AMD did and scrap everything and build their cpu from the ground up again.

Honestly, I don't care what Intel offers due to the threat of AMD. It's been far too long and I'm ready to jump ship!

Pretty sure we can say that with certainty, otherwise amd would go down in flames.

 

 In all seriousness I suspect it to be better than haswell and worse than skylake, which for most people isn't good enough but they may sell ~i7  for ~i5 prices or something like that to compensate however they said they don't want to be the bargin bin brand so this strategy is contrary to their statement.

You may be forgetting that Intel has a 60 point margin on their products.  Think there is a fairly large area in between "bargain bin" and "intel" where AMD can be quite profitable and look like heroes doing it.

Really Intel? You seriously think Kaby Lake was 15% better than Skylake and now on top of that you're trying to tell people that Cannon Lake will be 15% better than Kaby Lake!?!?!? Seems like they've been drinking their own kool-aid....

 

Also I love their fine print at the bottom specifically speaking "You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases"

It is rather funny that kaby lake isn't even 15% better than haswell XD, and it is literally a 0% per clock improvement from skylake, though it is clear they want to grab mobile and server sale rather than consumer

intel anit stupid they know what amd have in ryzen u dont think they wont have some one on the inside (and dont be like o this anit the FBI bullshit u know what i mean slide someone a grand and its amazing what they tell you all am saying) so the fact kaby lake is the normal 5-10% boost on sky lake makes my question ryzen

also kaby is 5-10% faster then sky which is standard for a new intel cpu so ryzen is conveniently 5-10% better then sky or its = or worse then sky? intel have way more info on making a good cpu then amd therefore can make a better one easier then amd and also faster 

 

side note:

in the uk a 7600k is cheaper then a 6600k so that positive for ryzen surly
