After the burning Note 7, fire breaks at Samsung battery factory

suicidalfranco

The grand finally to 2016 greatest tech joke ever, after two consecutive world wide recalls, and infinite internet meme, what better way to end it than with this news?

On Tuesday morning part of the factory that produced the battery of the ill-fated Note 7 at Samsung KDI in China.

Quote

Samsung told Bloomberg that production wasn’t affected because the fire occurred at a waste site, not near the production line where Samsung KDI actually manufactures the batteries.

there is only one way that i can express my opinion on the matter:

why isn't this topic marked has "hot" already? I mean the topic is on fire.

serious now, I hope that there haven't been any dangerous elements like lithium inside the burn, that would be quite problematic.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Just going to be "that guy" by saying why did they continue making those types of batteries after the Note 7? Wouldn't you have learnt by now?

they probably didn't and this fire was cased by anther battery type, maybe a prototype or maybe a machine just went eh yolo and decided to malfunction.

The problem wasn't with the battery, but rather the design of the Note 7. The design of the Note 7 caused the battery to short, thus resulting in the phone setting on fire.

No it was verified that it was the battery. Two different plants confirmed it was a short in the battery it self.

I guess they're just doing very aggressive battery testing :)
But yeah hmm, still it will be exciting to see their phones this year.

What caused the deflection in the battery? I know the second batch of batteries had a manufacturing flaw.

they weren't produced up to spec, some of the electrodes where too long which caused them to contact at the ends where they sealed.

Both of them did. I cant remember which was which but one batch had it where the folds in the cells were to compact and could pinch leading to a short. The second was there was no insulation layer between some of the cells which had a greater chance to short out. But there are some article you could google that will get into much more depth.

I guess those batteries are tired of all the persecution against them, and are self-immolating in protest.

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

After Samsung joined trend with waterproof phones they decided to push the line further by introducing new fireproof model.

This was first test of their new prototype.

It is supposed to have implemented vacuum suction ports to remove air from the near vicinity to put off fire.

The reason why Samsung didn't announced this for public is because they don't want people to know that their new flagship phone will suck.
