[Amazon] Athlon II X2 220 for 27.31USD with shipping

So, if you are searching for a very cheap CPU to fit in your AM3/AM3+ motherboard, you came to the right place. Right now, there is an Athlon II X2 220 for only 22.19$+5.12$ s/h. This is a decent budget CPU, and while it can't pull GTA 5 @4K60, it should run general use applications just fine. I mean, what can you expect from a 27$ CPU anyway?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0068J13EY?pc_redir=T1&tag=pcpapi-20

Also note that this CPU does not come with a stock heatsink, so you have to buy one yourself.

Edit: So, ROTB, I want to tell you that this CPU is not meant for gaming. If you want to game, please, spend 30$ more and get yourself a decent CPU like a Pentium G3258 or an Athlon X4 845. This is just a general use cheapo dual core CPU. If you want to buy it, don't expect much. It's 27$ for a reason.

Athlon X2 for only 27.31$   Best part lists at different price points   Windows 1.01 running natively on an Eee PC

I have the X2 255, it can run Skyrim (720p, Medium settings, low fade out options) on 30fps and lower mostly :^)

Honestly it's probably better to spend a bit more on a Pentium G3258 and a cheap LGA 1150 motherboard. Or maybe some completely different route like second hand. It's not that great of a CPU

This would only be good for updating the bios, but you could probabbly find them cheaper on ebay.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •

G3258 is not worth - 860K or bust

true, but it kinda depends on what games you will play.

Oh well..

Also, "it should run less demanding titles just fine" like what exactly OP? Well yeah this CPU runs Insaniquarium Deluxe pretty good. Minecraft vanilla on 720p is ok I guess.. Bioshock Infinite is do-able, as well as Mirror's Edge.. But these aren't running at 60fps

Yeah, something like that. Although you have to consider that it's 27$, so you can't really expect much from it...

Well if you're gonna go say it's good for less demanding games it's kinda like this video:

You're better off spending a bit more and getting a lot more value for the money.

I have the 860k...

I'd say go G3258 so you have an upgrade path.

If you go 860k you don't have an upgrade path and will have to pursache a new motherboard if you want to upgrade CPU.

If you go G3258 you are buying a dead socket which is no longer being made. Not to mention the Pentium is HORRIBLE in modern games

That's true.

But dead socket?

The socket still holds great chips. The second-hand market SWARMS with these chips, and there are even plenty brand new to find.

If you're not planning on upgrading any time soon go 860k, but otherwise go g3258.

Any platform that is not in active production is classified as dead. Sandy is dead, Ivy is dead, Haswell is dead, Broadwell is dead, Skylake will soon be dead. That is how it works.

Anyway, G3258 is horrible value and makes modern 2015-2016 games unplayable so I would NEVER recommend it at ANY price point. 860K or i3 MINIMUM

Well it's not really a "dead" chipset. It's more like last-gen type of thing, it's good and it will be cheaper over time; the Athlon II X2 is a great example.

I could run skyrim on high, 8x Anti-Anailisaing and 8x Filtering, 60fps with my R7 250.
