I really stopped caring about EVGA PSU.

I rather stress my Playstation 4, 3 or XBox 360 instead than to worry about EVGA these days...

Have you played Detroit: Becoming Human? I really want a PS4 just for that game, as well as Last of Us....

Nope, not Detroit, yet, well except for 1 minute or two of the Demo.
And Last of Us might have a good story but annoying stealthy gameplay. Not my cup of tea...

I prefer things like Horizon Zero Dawn...

So, I've been thinking... I need to replace my old PSU (a CX550. it started to give up on me last week, press F), I should've replaced it already to be honest but i'm *kinda* lazy.

My question is: is the EVGA GD 650W a good power supply? It's really cheap here in Brazil and I saw good reviews about that psu, and you guys @ LTT consider it a Tier 2 psu. Is it REALLY a safe choice?

Thanks. :D

What do you mean it "started to give up"?

Suggest a fully modular Tier 3 or better power supply for a non-gaming rig, please?

It's a motherboard (MSI B250 Mortar) I5-7400, 8GB DDR4 ram, a pair of spinner seagates and a dvd-rw. I figure I can get away with 500 watts for power.

Correct me if I am off my rocker.

Hi everyone. I'm just now reading about the issues are G3 series is having and am a bit worried since I don't really understand everything about PSU's. I already have all these parts and am ready to put this together, would I have any issues with a 750w G3 or should I look into a different PSU? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/jbassfox/saved/4QMBP6

250W would be fine. What country?

You have a different power supply then. CX550 was released in 2016.

If you bought this mysterious PSU in 2012 then the warranty is most likely expired, shame. You could have just rma'd it otherwise.

CX450/CX450M is usually on sale, or something from the CX x50 series. MasterWatt is also nice.

Should i go with the evga g2 or g3 power supply? The G2 is 30 AUD cheaper than the G3, but what are the main differences?

Although it was touted as the quieter and more efficient unit at launch, the G3 has some issues with OPP.

So get the G2 if your choice is between those.  It's better and cheaper.

All the reviews ive seen is that the OPP on the G3 is perfectly implemented though.

Who has been reporting these incidents? Im just curious

But ill go with the G2 anyways, thanks :)

Looking at PCPP AU, get neither. The Focus or RMx would be better choices.

No problem.  It was various outlets reporting it.  @STRMfrmXMN would know (or look 3-4 pages back).

Yeah, sometimes PCPP isn't the most up to date, but if either of those are cheaper than the G2 I'd agree.

Aris (TomsHW), very few reviewers actually test OPP... Care to provide a source that does test it and has no issues with it?
