This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

Should I feel bad for having the EVGA Supernova G3? Are all the models for the G3 bad in some way? I do have the 850w version of it.

It's overload protection is questionable/possibly non-existent, but it's still built pretty well for what it is.  I believe the B3 is in the same boat (correct me if I'm wrong).

Most rigs with one GPU aren't going to push that PSU.

Here are a few other options available in the same price range:

1. Corsair TX550M
2. Gigabyte B700H

3. Thermaltake TR2 S 700W

4. Corsair CX650M

5. Antec EA550G Pro

6. Cooler Master Masterwatt 650W

7. Cooler Master MASTERWATT LITE 230V 700W

I think out of all these, TX650M is the best one could get. A little bit of noise won't bother me as much as a cheap quality PSU will xd.

No Bitfenix :(

Yeah, the TX is probably the best bet of those.

That or the EAG Pro (FOCUS re-brand)

The G3 OPP exists, and it doesn't kill the PSU (usually, 1000G3 died, neither of the other tested units did) not does it start sparking, it does cause the 12V rail to break spec though and OTP is set stupidly high...

It's a minutely better unit because of the fan size.

Either one will do fine, but the Seasonic is likely quieter by a noticeable amount.

Probably the EVGA because performance is similar but the G1+ Platform is made by FSP and I'd trust them a hell of a lot more than Seasonic.

I know brands alone don't mean everything but I always thought they were both reputable brands.

Seasonic Outsources a ton of shit, especially the PCB-As, FSP does everything (bar the obvious caps etc) in-house, therefore FSP has a tighter reign on QC.

Yay, not a group-regulated unit!

I'll wait to see what transient response looks like and then put it T1 which is where it will probably go.

Not good.

Not as bad as Seasonic S12II-Bronze because of a better protection IC. But not much better either.

Still old Group Regulated shit, so not worth thinking about.

I don't remember wich one was the old 2006 PCB/Design...

I think it was Hydro M...

With a 1080, you'd be pulling well under 400W. The Pure Power 10 400W is a CX/M competitor. The Vengeance is the German, upgraded version of the CX/M. The Formula Gold, GX-F and Whisper M might be available for decent prices too. Then there's the grey CX/CXM, of course.

I know even with a 1080 it would be fine with a 450, but the problem with the CX450 is it only has 1x PCIe 6+2 cable. Not really an issue though because there's plenty of other units in that range. He'll probably never put a 1080 in it anyways, maybe a 1060 at the highest is all he would need. They don't sell some of those brands here in Canada (like BeQuiet) so options are a bit more limited I guess.

Leaning towards the EVGA BQ500.

You can get 1080s with only 1 PCIe connector - my ASUS one only has 1

Looking for recommendations for a PSU for a build I'm putting together for a client. It's a simple Ryzen 3 2200G build aimed at keeping the cost down. They will be gaming on the iGPU for now, but will probably add a graphics card later on.

Been looking at mid-grade units in the 450 to 550w range, but can't decide.

Thanks. :)

FSP Hexa 85+ or Hexa II available?

Those two should be independently regulated.

Even the 350W version.

So, I've been thinking... I need to replace my old PSU (a CX550. it started to give up on me last week, press F), I should've replaced it already to be honest but i'm *kinda* lazy.

My question is: is the EVGA GD 650W a good power supply? It's really cheap here in Brazil and I saw good reviews about that psu, and you guys @ LTT consider it a Tier 2 psu. Is it REALLY a safe choice?

Thanks. :D

Yeah, it seems to be a good unit. It isn't sold in North America from what I can tell.
