Nvidia released 3080 Doom Eternal Footage, 4k over 170FPS?

Summary

 Today, Nvidia released more RTX 3080 footage. This time, it was Doom Eternal, running at 4k. They say that it is running at max settings, and has over 170FPS spikes, with lows of 90FPS. The video has comparisons to the 2080ti, in the benchmark.

My thoughts

Given that the 2080 TI was having 80FPS, with 100FPS spikes, this looks real nice. I just wish we could see the 3070 and 2080TI compaired, instead of 3080 and 2080ti.

Now I wish there were 32/38in 4k 144hz+ monitors. The only ones we have are either tiny or gigantic.

Yeah, that fricken Asus/Acer 32" display is non-existent, as expected.  Shown off at CES earlier this year and then....  nothing.

That's typically Asus. They show off amazing monitors and they get released after 1,5-2 years.

I love how the Youtube comments praised the person doing the tech demo for being competent in playing the games, and they're right. I stopped caring about the framerate and just allured by the great gameplay.

Acer is in the same boat.  Until AUO gets the panels built in volume, neither manufacturer can sell their displays.  The hold up is always AUO.

Pretty frustrating. But in the end of the day: I got disappointed twice for two monitors I've been waiting for. Not worth it.

Rest assured, I got my money back and Asus can eat shit. Their QC is horrible.

I'd just like to play AC: Odyssey on higher than medium settings and staying above 60fps on 1440p. My 1070Ti just isn't doing the job anymore.

There are already 27" 4K/144Hz panels out right now and have been for over two years.  In fact I have the original Asus PG27UQ, and was fortunate enough to snag one right at launch during the summer of '18.  That form factor and diagonal screen size makes 4K gaming very sharp for folks with really good eyes.  But the PPI is rough on older folks (such as me).

 

A 32" screen, set far enough away on the desk top, is the perfect size for 4K gaming IMHO.  And we'll see those from Asus and Acer as soon as AUO can get the damned panels built and shipped.  But they won't be inexpensive!  Likely in the mid-$3000 price range.

It's probably DLSS vs no DLSS too, so these numbers are meaningless.

I think it almost doesn’t matter exactly how fast these things are as long as they don’t exist in the marketplace.   “a Good chunk faster” is enough. AMD will care but until they’re for sale it’s irrelevant and may remain irrelevant if they don’t have a competitor that is also for sale.  Then it can matter.
