By the way the glass cracked after, it does seem to be some sort of tempered glass. However, the holes made in it probably made it a LOT weaker. They needed external clips/frame to hold it in place, but that would obvs increase the cost and possibly development time and understanding.

I am amazed this thing managed to be delivered to you without it being blown into pieces during shipping. Still, bad product though, they should have laminated the side facing the TV so it doesn't blow and scratch the screen.

LinusTechTips has a Mohs' hardness test kit and this was the perfect situation in which to use it.

 

I have cats and really wanted to know this screen protector's hardness to protect my TV against cat claws. My cats do not throw controllers at my TV, but they enjoy watching squirrel videos.

 

Throwing the controller at the tempered glass was spectacular, but now the opportunity has been missed to test its scratch resistance...

Not sure if these below are the exact models, but the product descriptions and installation processes seem to line up (¥ refers to CN¥, $ refers to USD):
