There is apparently some response from Intel coming.  Whether it is worth anything is another question.  AMD 4000 stuff beats intel 9900 stuff.  If they can’t make 9900 last gen in the near future and do it pretty conclusively they’re in trouble.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Lol, I got that one... On the E5-1620 Xeon.  It estimated 7 hours.  It's only at 56%.

In the meantime though, the 3600 pickup 14586, which is worth 3600, and it's chewing through that twice as fast.  The 3600 is such a bonkers price-performance.  It actually outperformed the 1700X OC'd that it replaced in Cinebench R20.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

I had problems setting my machine up for this some days ago.  My machine isn’t particularly powerful  And there seems to be hardware better than mine hanging ready and empty so I figured my quite unimpressive stuff (4770+rx580). Would remain pointless in the effort.  Is this still the case?  Was it never the case?

I'm running an i5 4590 and an RX580, I'm only folding with the GPU as the CPU just doesn't have enough power to make it worth while. Seeing about 400-500 PPD when I get WU's for it, about 1/2 of my Vega56. Neither PC are getting steady work though, it's about 2 maybe 3 in a 24hr period.

well i think intel is in trouble the next gen i think will still be 14nm so unless they pull a surprise and its 10 on a 45 watt part then they aint got crap.

I think they are simply in trouble. Nearly every initial response Intel brought have been marketing ploys or re-hashes of existing products. Which means they were caught with their pants down when AMD hit the ground running. I bet its another year before Intel makes any competitive response. Their own fault too

I didn't actually register for the contest (didn't think I'd have my machines stable in time, and I was right lol), but I'm glad to see I'd be sitting somewhere around the mid 200's.  That's honestly better than I thought I could do.

I had it successfully OC'd, but only when I had my ram down at 2133MHz.  Once I realized I wanted that at the rated 3200, I couldn't get the OC stable anymore, and it was better performance at stock clocks with the faster ram.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

it all stems from about 5-6 years ago  when amd announced they where no longer trying to compete with intel so intel stagnated and mean while in the labs at amd they had this plan going.  as they knew intel would pull this crap...

Success! Got the old Lenovo T500 up and folding. I had to reinstall Linux Mint; not sure why it wouldn't work the first time because this time it worked no problem. I'm up to six old machines folding 24h a day.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

wow that video Proves intel sucks lol...GO TEAM AMD Now my question is why no AMD Graphics on that computer?

I legit have no idea of AMD's mobile GPU situation, or if they have one.  I was actually looking at lappy's recently (even though I really hate doing anything on them) and going down the rabbit hole of AMD-CPU laptops and the options looks awesome; they have clearly stolen intel's lunch.  I just dont trust them enough with my GPU to make the leap on that front though!

Success! Got the old Lenovo T500 up and folding. I had to reinstall Linux Mint; not sure why it wouldn't work the first time because this time it worked no problem. I'm up to six old machines folding 24h a day.

I am up to 4. I could run this on my server but the Mfer gets loud and it's in the family room. I do have an old Lenovo workstation I could fire up but it might be pointless as it only has a i5 3470

All my machines are pretty old. A lot of people are getting more points in a day than I get in a week. But every little bit helps.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

I am sure you have more than that.

After one week of folding with 5 machines going 24h a day, I'm at 280,342 points.
