I've been tempted. I end up spending a lot of time anyway working through a lot of weird issues trying to get AMD cards going on Linux with the amdgpu-pro drivers.

Yeah I wanted to try my lowly R5 2500U on Linux as I'm curious if it would push the performance up just enough to be worth using the GPU, on Windows the one WU I tried went an hour over the timeout which sucked.   I mean I get its insanely weak, but if I could just get it to complete WUs in under 24 hours it would at least count. ;)  Besides, its worth just seeing how different it performs to Windows even if it ends up still be unusable.

Its bad enough with NVIDIA, it seems I can either get OpenCL and CUDA working, or the 32bit libraries required to run Steam, not both.  But that using pre-packaged drivers for you I guess.

Better than not even trying. Or better yet it's better than those who work on it for a day and give up.

Does the "download ahead of finish" thing only download ahead for one slot?  I have a GPU unit ready for # crunching but the CPU doesn't and they'll finish about the same time.

EDIT: there it went.  my blind ass just missed the % done.  all good.

At least your Xeons have GPUs attached. My E5-2450 v2s don't.

Pretty sure your i3/i5 are better than my E5-1620 and Phenom 1100T.  What PPDs do they make?

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

I've got an old ass 2006-ish Dell Inspiron with a Centrino CPU crunching on WUs that take about 3 days a pop.  Also have a 2013-ish iMac that MIGHT finish one WU in 24 hours.  Even though my main rig can pump out a few WUs a day, these other two old and busteds are still churning on WUs... solving problems, contributing to the research, and - yeah, gettin' me points.  But, each CPU or GPU cycle is one cycle closer to stomping out diseases.  Don't let it get to you.  Everything helps!  🙂

all my quad core systems with good graphics will be getting the cpu a break for now (my 7775 will be getting a 50% reduction in cpu usage) as it appears haveing an idle or not busy ram and cpu makes the vcard do better...at least with team red. if my PPD drops any thing worth writing home about i may revise my statement. lol

I have a Lenovo S30 box laying around that just needs RAM, it's got a Quadro K600 & E5-1620.  I'm not likely to use it any time soon.

But I don't know how I'd get it to Canada, lol.

Uhh....  good question.  Some form of ECC DDR2, I assume.  Let me see what the other one uses.

Plus, this is my frustration lately... like a bad rollercoaster.  Is everyone else's stats showing like this?  Oh - but don't fret about Friday and Saturday... needed some gaming time.

i havent been a 24/7/365 folder but ive always done it on some version of windows and the only time its BSOD'd is when i touch the wrong thing while its working 🤣

my folding stats are also a mess, there's also a dead spot where I got sick of trying to get the client to upload finished work or get new work. I feel like everyone's will look like this to some extent with some people having horseshoes up their ass getting WU and having little issues uploading
