I'm in self-isolation for 12 weeks...

Quarantine as in your infected?

Big chance I'm infected. The 2 people I live with (and their doctor) are saying what they have is likely corona (but no testing has been done so I'm taking that with a big ole grain of salt). I've had a pretty consistent headache over the last couple of days, one that went from a solid sinus headache to somewhere between that and a BP headache. Throat hurts, but that's because of the smoking and coughing I do on a regular basis (plus probably a wee bit of allergies or Corona, I'll take either honestly. My seasonal allergies can somethimes put me out of commission for weeks).

I'm a food service employee, so I'm gonna be safe and not touch people's food while I'm unsure on what is smacking us. Odds are it's allergies

BAHAHAHAHA, I'm leaving this thing going 24/7 on max fold power for a reason. If I die, my computer will continue folding until she pops a mosfet!

Hmm.. Just finished a WU, it took about 2 1/2 hours which is pretty normal, sometimes they're a bit longer, but the final credit estimate was only 7608. Does anyone know why this might be?

Edit: here's the logs for that WU if that helps?

Got my RX580 Red Devil up and running in my Cube PC, aka Foldy Puff Jr.,  Foldy Puff Sr. (Vega 56 full tower) finally got some work units as well! The 580 is good for about 300,000 PPD at 125W plus the 600,000 Vega 56 at 175W, 300W of home heating.

Signed up just to say that I was watching the WAN show and heared about this project, and I've just started folding for the first time under the LTT team. Really awesome community response to help fight COVID-19, keep up the good work 👌

For some reason I haven't been able to get any GPU WUs on my RTX2060 rig but my old GTX750Ti rig is getting non stop GPU WUs.

Bad news. The electricity bill payer has told me the extra £30/m it's costing them is too much. So no more 24/7 folding :(

(Not even if I offer to pay it, as the electricity company averages it, so if I stop it's probably going to be higher for a while anyway..)

Hey, I started folding today but I feel like I have a couple of problems:

 - The CPU task never launches, it says "ready" and "download" in the program but nothing ever starts

 - Everytime I try to go to my profile, it says "Bad Gateway"

 - I earned a few points but on the webpage (when I still had access) it said I was in "default" team even if my display shows me in team 223518

Can anyone tell me if I did somehting wrong ?

I've got a used hp optiplex I'm wanting to throw in with my other machines already folding. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good gpu I can get for it? Not worried about the jank look. Just looking for best bang for buck when folding with a sandy bridge CPU.

Probably not, both first ones have to do with overloaded F@H servers, and it may take a while before the stats update. If the control panel, either the web or advanced one says you fold for team 223518 it should also be okay, just to wait for more WUs.

Thank you very much. I'll wait to see, but it's been several hours (8+) and still the same, which is why I'm surprised. (I'll go to bed (European here) and see tomorow in the morning if it has worked, I'll try their forum otherwise!

Cheers!

Does anyone know what’s considered a pretty good amount of points to get per day on folding@home? 🤔

The servers are being heavily overloaded, we are effectively DDOSing them, but, out of love....

If it has been a while, hit pause, wait a minute, and then hit start folding again. That can help your client refresh the server list and try and get new WU's. Looks like they just did some server side maintenance based on their server's up-times, and this may have caused you some issues. Try to pause and restart, or restart your computer, and then just wait a bit more.

As far as stats go, they got them working for a little bit, but they look to be down again. They are much more invested in working on their server back end and getting WU's produced and tested so they can get them out to us, and MUCH less worried about their stats servers right now. That said, the stats are being tracked, but right now so many folks are trying to look at their stats, its overloading the server. Right now, don't worry about your stats, helping the cause is all the matters :).

Very much depends on what you consider a "normal" computer.

There are folks out there with 6-8 Titan V's going ham on this, powered by dual socket Xeon Gold 6230 CPU's... They are crushing anything us normal folks can ever achieve. That said, a normal gaming desktop, the high end would be 2.5-3M ish depending on WU's.

One of my buddies is one of those extreme users, he has 2 Titan V's and a dual socket Xeon on it!

I'd say kill the old one and give your 2060 rig the highest chance of getting WUs. The point potential on that is much higher than the 750

Open your Task Manager and stop the process AFTER you pause the folding. Otherwise you can get corruption that will lead to a WU getting rejected if your system doesn't stop the folding before terminating the process.

Ooof, maybe get a solar panel and hook your computer up to that?

Can anyone tell me if I did somehting wrong ?

1.) Likely not getting any WUs. If your time until next attempt gets above 30 minutes, pause your client and restart folding (pause, wait a minute for ongoing fold to pause which will reset it to its last checkpoint, then hit resume.) That will reset the timer for your CPU to request WUs. Normally, just doing this once will net me a WU shortly there after.

2.) That's a server sided issue on F@H's side due to being 10xd by the community (we've been hitting them so hard they will get servers back up and they immediately get swarmed by our ravenous hardware.) https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ Is what most of us have been using for our profile monitoring.

3.) Check EoC. You're probably in the right team. Regardless of team you're in however, your points still go to the same cause, and it's a good one!

Depends on your budget and the amount of points you want to get and how quickly? If points don't matter, then budget. You're looking for cards that can thrash CUDA I believe, but also not consume the sun's entire potential energy not doing it. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong though :D)

True I should be more specific. I’m thinking more of like an i5 9600 paired with a GTX 1060 which to me is like an “average” PC since it’s not on the super high end or super low end but an in the middle computer.

Ha, well in the long run that would pay off, but the cost of getting that all set up is far too much form me.

I'm going to try and fold what I can each day, a couple of WUs here and there. Once I've finished my degree and I'm earning and paying the bills I can go all out.
