Machinima wipes all videos without notifying it's creators.

The majority of gaming content creators on YouTube were at one point signed with Machinima, and the official channel soon became the hub for all the most popular gaming content on the platform, garnering over 12 million subscribers.

More: The best Black Ops 4 emblem creations by the community

It reached a peak in popularity with the glory days of Call of Duty content on YouTube from 2007 to around 2012, and was the major network behind the surge in 'gameplay commentaries'. The channel also held streams under its 'Machinima Live' show, and entered esports with 'Machinima Vs'.

Perhaps one of the channel's most beloved shows was 'Machinima Respawn', hosted by popular YouTubers Adam 'SeaNanners" Montaya, Scott 'Mr Sark' Robison, and Shaun 'Hutch' Hutchinson.

The community reacted to the sad news that all of the channel's content, over a decade worth of videos, had been entirely wiped.

WB had bought the Machinima and had Transformers Animated series on it recently. but it looks like Fullscreen bought it and nuked the videos it had so many walkthroughs and gaming skits that lost forever, they now  have 1.2 negative billion views as of today, think machinima as a history book, a lot of citable videos such as E3 coverage and news interviews are also gone with it.

Who thought it was a good idea to wipe all that? Or was it for legal reasons?

Either way, I don't watch too much of that stuff. I mainly watch trolling in FSX videos, AH, RT, and some car guys (and of course daddy Linus) but I still feel the hurt. I bet someone is gonna open up either another YouTube channel, or a whole website with a cache of all the videos. Someone, somewhere, has 'em all.

Rooster Teeth*

Though Funhaus is a child company under Rooster Teeth, worth noting Funahus did not create gen:LOCK

___

I feel like a LOT of people saw this coming from machinima. That company died sooooo long ago

I don't think RT was ever part of Funhaus, rather, Funhaus was picked up by the Let's Play Network and is now part of RT in that way.

Funhaus was originally a Machinima property, that RoosterTeeth bought.

I think it was Fullscreen that bought RT, then I guess acquired FH and others as well. So they're all separate, yet not, at the same time. I only remember bits and pieces of listing to all the RT podcasts. (where I'm getting my info from)

Are you telling me the world has lost mans1ay3r's:

  1. "We'll bang, okay?" - Commander Shepherd
  2. All his Skyrim "GamerPoop" videos too?

This is a horrible day.

That would make sense, being that you can buy FH merch on the RT store.

The good news in all this, is a lot of trash was just cleared off the Youtube servers.

There were a few gem on that channel, but a lot of it was just garbage content.

This sucks. It's kinda like history gone and for no good reason I can see.
I hate this. We're losing shit faster than we can archive it or even know to archive it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I think copyright laws needs to be changed or abolished in favor of saving media that no longer is supported by the company.

So much content and history itself can be easily wiped out by these online systems, esentially wiping history.

It was on my list to archive them this year. I have a small amount of archives, but trying to get everything I can. OP, can you share on r/datahoarder or archiveteam?
