goto10 got a reaction from dalekphalm in Modelling Shared Workstation
linus did it but was a massive failure because is not practical
you put all your eggs in one basket, when one of the virtual machines crahses the others end crashing or requiring a system restart
you basically make a mess of cables, spend way too much on motherboard and cpu
better go for traditional workstation, one machine, one user

goto10 got a reaction from PEagle in Windows 10 - small capacity SSD
i was thinking about the whole situation, as you see you can do alot but you will still be limited by the small size of that emmc ssd you have there
you already mentioned the idea of move windows to the hard disk
but windows 10 on a hard disk is honestly annoying to use
have you considered remove the hard disk and buy a cheap 120 gbs ssd and replace the hard disk?
the hard disk could be moved into a external hard disk enclosure if you need the space
i know that you said you dont want to spend money, but this approach will give you alot more depending on your usage, and once you are done with the laptop and want to sell it or give it away, you remove the ssd and leave it with the emmc 32 gbs ssd, so no money is wasted

goto10 got a reaction from Magnus Dahl in Bad connection even after upgrades? HELP
change wifi channel on router
but remember that is not the same as wifi disconnecting than loosing internet access, you have to be sure what is the problem
wifi could be ok but internet could be having issues, be sure to know what is failing first

goto10 got a reaction from OskarE.R in Ethernet not working with PC but works with PS4
this ethernet cable is connected into a modem, a router, a switch?
you connect the ethernet into your ethernet adapter on your pc, does it have a yellow or green led showing any activity on that ethernet adapter?

goto10 got a reaction from steelo in Turning LED TV Into a PC
you are trying to convert a arm cpu with a custom firmware into a pc
no, it is not going to work, nothing is compatible the way you imagine it is compatible there
pc parts and tv parts have no relation whatsoever, nor voltages, no pci express bus, no same architecture
keep your original plan, or find the lcd replacement part or sell the parts so someone else repairs his own tv

Memory overclocking is not affected by PSU. If your PSU is bad then just running it is a bad idea.

goto10 got a reaction from Cypher-Jackson in Is my SSD dead?
on the pc with the ssd connected with the usb adapter, press the win key and the r key
on tue run command write diskmgmt.msc
this will open the disk management tool, take a snapshot and post it here, to see if the 160 gbs ssd is shown there and if it has a valid partition
i think that intel has a ssd health diagnose tool, download and run that too
also yu can run crystaldiskinfo, see if it catches it and what has to say about it

it probably can be edited but with a hex editor or with a dedicated savegame editor, the file is not just text, cant be done directly

goto10 got a reaction from IAmAndre in Would you recommend going 100% 4G?
no, thankfully coaxial is not copper
the signal sent on those wires basically travel over the surface of the "copper" core, that is just a cheap metal with a thin coat of copper to do the real job
is not worth to steal or recycle, good and bad at the same time
about vdsl, is decent, yes, but in reality is just copper with lots of limitations, those limitations often decend on the isp, if they take case of the wires, the equipment, their infrastructure the service can be quite decent, in reality vdsl is just the end of the line and most isps are moving into hfc or pure ffth, fiber to the masses, so those dsl infrastructures become expensive and not cost effective
is a shame that 4g is not reliable, 5g could be better, theoretically, time will tell
something tells me that satellite internet will be better than 5g

goto10 got a reaction from Flying Sausages in Is it worth buying different air cooler over the stock one for 3700x
the comment was about amd cpus, not intel cpus, completelly different, amd has a auto overclockingn solution integrated on the cpu and bios, intel has nothing like that

goto10 reacted to RyzenDoctor in RX 5700 XT VS RTX Series?
To be fair, a 5700xt is so close to the 2070 super. The only time I would say go with the 2070 super, is if you somehow already invested in a gsync monitor and appreciate variable refresh gaming. If your monitor doesnt support Gsync, or if its freesync, go the AMD route, but wait for AIB partner models. Better coolers on those cards would mean a higher and more sustained boost regardless of manual overclocking.

goto10 reacted to Fearless247 in I painted a GPU with metal flake car paint
So I got bored today and had some extra metal flake paint left over from my project car, and I thought what better to use it on than a busted old Sparkle GTX 560TI. So just for kicks I popped the shroud off and got to work, I've included pics of the finished product. I would have done before shots but I didn't realize it would come out this good, It was just more of an experiment to see how car paint looks on a computer part. Here's a youtube link that shows how it looks when you pan across it with a light source https://youtu.be/qWn8FB2i0xM feel free to reply with comments or questions on my methods so you can recreate this, It also looks like this on case exteriors as I painted a Optiplex tower front grille with the same paint and came out great.

goto10 got a reaction from Metallus97 in Can you use normal glue stick glue on electronics?
buy the tape, do it well one time only, no liquid of any kind should be near the screen, buy the tape, 1 am or not, do it well or you will loose time and the part you bought
