PokeCatz reacted to Zomeguy in Why do FX series CPUs or so well?
Yes I remember my P3 500 MHz that could do 1GHz.

The reason I think is the binning process and how far Intel and AMD push their CPUs is much more than previous generations. The more current generation stuff is pushed much closer to the limit than older generations were so you aren't going to see the large percent overclocks like you used to.

This could be referring to that fact you may need to update the BIOS on that motherboard so it supports Ryzen 5000 series.

The Hyper 212 Evo is more than enough for your 5600x. It doesn't pull a lot of power. I'd say at 100% utilization it will stay under 65C while still being pretty quiet.

Edit: for the GPU, just using the 1050ti while you wait for prices to come down at least a bit would be your best option. GPU prices are through the roof, so if you can get by for a while then you should.

    Q-Flash Plus Button -
Q-Flash Plus allows you to update the BIOS when your system is off (S5 shutdown state). Save the latest BIOS on a USB thumb drive and plug it into the Q-Flash Plus port, and then you can now flash the BIOS automatically by simply pressing the Q-Flash Plus button. The QFLED will flash when the BIOS matching and flashing activities start and will stop flashing when the BIOS flashing is complete.

Better ram, better priced SSD for the same speed and warranty, I also added a PSU. You could get the Asus TUF or Gigabyte Aorus Pro to lower the cost.

So at least for my laptops, they seem to intake a lot of their air from through the keyboard. I would use MSI afterburner or similar to log the temperatures and monitor thermal throttling.

So, we all know how iOS has a battery health status in it's settings to tell you how good the battery is. I'm running a Pixel 2 XL, Android 10. Is there any software that can get an accurate or at least close enough estimate to tell me how good my battery health is? I'm aware that I have to charge it up completely and let it die a couple of times.

90 is "fine" too; won't throttle.

Most laptops hang around that temperature range as well.

I'm not saying it's GOOD. But it won't kill it. Not immediately anyway.

I didn't even try with the stock cooler on my 8700; got an Arctic Freezer 33 for $24 and it works great. But I don't have a warranty to worry about either.

PokeCatz reacted to mariushm in which one would pull more air?
Nobody can tell which is better.
It depends on the fan blades, how they're shaped, and how much the fan is obstructed by the grill or mesh
Some are more tuned for static pressure (for use with radiators and so on) and some are more  optimized for air flow (mounting on cases)
Ideally, you look up the datasheet of the fan and you see there the CFM (cubic feet per minute, amount of airflow). For moving air in case, you care less about air pressure which is listed in mm H20 or something like that.

Usually bigger diameters means less noise, but anything else depends on factors mentioned above.

If the stepping (or revision) remains the same, then no. However if the stepping changes over time then yes, it might make a difference. Perhaps the best example of this was the Core 2 Quad Q6600 which started out on the B3 stepping and later went to the G0 stepping. The G0 was generally known to be a better clocking chip compared to B0.
