Do CPUs overclocked better if they are from a later batch

I'm planning to buy an r5 1600 which is at sale at 80$, since AMD is gearing up to launch the 3rd gen Ryzen processors, I'm assuming that this processor is from one of the last batches. Will it be able to overclocked better than the processors form the earlier batches?

And will an RTX 2060 be a good pair for this?

I have heard of no such thing.

If you're playing on 1080p, you definitely do not need an rtx 2060

If the stepping (or revision) remains the same, then no. However if the stepping changes over time then yes, it might make a difference. Perhaps the best example of this was the Core 2 Quad Q6600 which started out on the B3 stepping and later went to the G0 stepping. The G0 was generally known to be a better clocking chip compared to B0.

I have an Rx 480 8gb rn and the 1660 is not much of an upgrade from it.

in that sense not even the 1660Ti is good enough, stick to the 2060.

Well if you can get a better CPU that's more upgrade than rtx 2060. Unless you play ultra settings on all games

As for silicon lottery, later batches don't really do much for cpus, but I've found that later batch ram and vram modules can have a significant difference in overclocking. A RTX 2060 will pair well with the 1600 provided that you feed the 1600 with some decent ram and overclock it, look up the various profiles that TheStilt has made for whatever ram kit you decide to get, and you'll be faster than most ryzen systems.

depends on which cpu, for zen 1 it doesnt really matter, if u have a decent mobo, ur guaranteed 3.8, for efficiency's sake the range is 3.8-4.0, they are all pretty much the same.

 

Back in the sandy/ivy bridge days the later batches were indeed better, but in coffee lake's case, the newer 8700k gets binned into 8086k so later 8700ks are worse.
