So Apple is reportedly gonna launch a credit card with Goldman Sachs

Apple is preparing to release a credit card in partnership with investment bank Goldman Sachs, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. The new credit card — which marks the end of Apple’s credit card partnership with Barclays — would use the Apple Pay branding, and it’s expected to be released early next year. Goldman Sachs will also offer in-store loans to Apple customers, according to the report.

 

The move comes just months after Goldman Sachs acquired the team behind Final, a credit card startup, a signal that it was ready to become a serious player in the credit card industry. Goldman Sachs has had a partnership with American Express and its Platinum card for years, offering a variation of the premium credit card to its account holder

 

Now the Apple "ecosystem" could be moving closer to your pocketbook then ever before.

But will it brick itself if you use a third party scanner?

 

Apple seem focused on Apple Pay, unless this extends Apple Pay in any meaningful way I cannot see it being very successful - most things you can do with a credit card you can do with Apple Pay in it's current form except borrow money, something which Apple is unlikely to do at a large scale due to the risks involved.

I think this is going to be the first move to an all e-credit card, as they have apple pay and that could be easily linked to this, but I don't know why they'd need their own credit card when you can do the same with any other credit card.

Barclays haven't been playing nice with either Google Pay or Apple Pay so I'm not surprised on that front.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

this is Apple were talking about, the company that uses under payed foreign children to mass produce products. They seem like a match made in hell :P

I KNOW RIGHT!? That’s why I do not want to shop at Wal*Mart anymore. Every time I buy something they offer me a credit card. It’s starting to piss me off. It’s not like their prices are that great anyways. I just realized that their selling cheese for at least $2 more than any other store. And I eat a lot of cheese!
