What is so funny about 1 word responses? What do you get out of it?

Watching/participating in conversations where you're allowed one word is really funny to do, since you have to try and communicate everything you want to say in one word.

Also, only page 999 would be one-word. Everything else I don't care about.

That said, if you get 100 reacts in 5 minutes, do you not feel that someone has just taken all the things you've poured time into creating, and just blown right past them?

Ngl I feel offended by this, when people react mindlessly

I get that some people do it as a good gesture, and I appreciate it

But some of them just use it as a (bad) joke, which makes it lose its value

Perhaps there's a reason why reactions were so rare in 2017, I was by no means an outstanding member, but the reaction to post ratio was 1 reaction for every 4 posts

Nowadays it's more like 2 reaction for every posts, while most of the reaction I've gotten is genuine, some other members have abused it and it's becoming a number game

yep you can tell the old members. we've got very few reactions vs posts.
I feel like its just a growing of the I want likes and followers.

Like I run a small YT channel mostly for make myself grow, I've never been one to chase metrics. I don't care how may followers  I have or how many likes my last post got.
that doesn't put food on my table nor does it make me happy

Yep. My old reaction to content ratio was just under 50%, and it was far lower before I came back several months ago. It used to be where I didn't get any reactions at all, and that's fine. I don't care about the numbers, I'm here to help people and talk with people. Everything is a numbers game for some I guess.

@Den-Fi I know I've been kind of a dick to you and everything, and been annoying and everything. Sorry for that. But I do want to say you've been great to have around. Genuinely a great guy, and I'm glad to have met you. As you said about 'chew and how she is the type of person you meet very rarely (she truly is), you are that type of person. I have massive respect for you and what you have and will continue to make. Even though you'll probably be around for a while, I wanted to say this now cuz I probably will miss you going. Genuinely, thank you for sticking around as long as you did. I am glad to have met you

That's the thing: "big number = cool" is not what a lot of us care about. Out of the thousands of posts I've made here the ones I really care about are the ones where I can help someone or make a friendship from a mutual interest in something, such as old computers.

Edit: Please don't think I'm targeting you. I'm not. I just used you as a comparison to the interests of myself and what I'd like out of the forum.

I don't either! Big number = cool is very low on my list of priorities here. I've made some good friends here, helped people, talked about old computers, and had some laughs.

If I had never come here, my Pentium III build would likely have never become what it is today. I owe 40% of the build to @BrianTheElectrician, 20% to @Bitter, and 20% to my relatives. Same for my future P4/XP build - the parts that I have from it are Bitter's, minus a PhysX card from @ShrimpBrime. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and willingness to help me.

Also, fun fact: Prior to quarantine, I had never ventured onto an online community. I only joined one because I got my tower from my dad and wanted some help with a few things.

EDIT:
I looked back on my early posts.

I have learned a lot since then.
