Where's Waldo on Google Maps

Quote

Waldo is traveling the world with his friends Wenda, Woof, Wizard Whitebeard, and Odlaw. To travel with him, all you have to do is find him. The April Fools feature will be available all week on Android, iOS, and desktop (make sure you have the latest app version or visit google.com/maps on your computer). To start, press play when you see Waldo waving at you from the side of your screen or ask “Hey Google, Where’s Waldo?” via Google Assistant on your phone, Chromebook, or Home device.

Google Cloud Hummus API

Quote

There are so many different types of hummus. And not everyone likes the same hummus. This is a serious problem. Google wants to organize the world’s information, and hummus is no exception. What better way than to have a Hummus API? It analyzes your taste using Google’s “advance artificial intelligence algorithm,” “a hummus big data warehouse” stored in the Google Cloud, “a machine learning model,” vision intelligence, and a taste stick.

Gboard Hardware Keyboard

Quote

Google Japan was tired of having to memorize where the keys are on a keyboard, so it created a “physical handwriting version” of the Gboard virtual keyboard app. Instead, the team has created a device that lets you swipe over hardware keyboards, just like you do on software keyboards. The physical version of Gboard collects “a ton of scribble data” and uses machine learning to match it with the correct letters. They ended up with 100,000 data points! It works for all ages and not only do you no longer have to remember where all the letters are, but you don’t even need to print the letters on the keys anymore.

Bad Joke Detector

Quote

The Files Go team has decided it wants to do more to help you free up space on your phone. Instead of just removing junk files and old apps, Files Go will now delete any bad jokes you inadvertently receive from friends and family. The Bad Joke Detector uses “a custom-built deep neural network” to identify the bad jokes on your phone, which you can then delete with a single tap.

Path of Exile (a F2P aRPG) surprised everyone by releasing a PvP (with PvE mobs) battle royale mode with up to 100 players - which is surprisingly fun, if unbalanced. They also changed the name on Steam to PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE. Presumably, this is just an elaborate April Fools joke. But who knows, most of the community is loving it and people need to be put into short waiting rooms as there're too many people trying to log in to it at once. Unlikely this will actually be added to the game, but it would be miles ahead of the steaming pile of shit that is the current PvP system.

In-game, they had a message going out saying they were going to restart the server to update to version 3.2.2 (current is 3.2.1) and that the patch notes were on their website. However, since there were no patch notes, I, and many others, assumed just that would be the April Fools joke, telling people the game was going to have a short period of downtime when it actually wasn't. Then the servers actually went down. And a 1GB update was queued up in Steam (possibly smaller on the standalone client). Then the Royale mode. Still no patch notes though.

This is the kinda April Fools stuff I enjoy.

EDIT: Watching an interview with the head of Grinding Gear Games (the devs of Path of Exile), Chris Wilson, and he said this has and would continue to cost them $10,000 per day just in server costs, due to having 100 people in the same instance. So, this is almost definitely not staying, sadly. Also, apparently this was put together with each member of their team only dedicating up to 12 hours total.

But the gist is that Danish police will now monitor young drivers' actions in games like Grand Theft Auto and Need for Speed, with the purpose of issuing strikes against the player's driver's licens for traffic violations within the games.

And, of course:

This is fake too: Link

TL;DR: 1180ti will have 4X 1080ti specs, to use card to fullest you have to pay a monthly subscription service (choose between tier 1-3, but really need all) and each tier is $30 a month or all of them can be bought for $70 a month. Benchmarks shown were for unreleased games (Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, Metro Exodus, Half Life 3) and put the 1180Ti's performance to be about 2 TITAN Vs (130fps avg 4k max). Also need to pay for ANOTHER subscription service ($70 a month) for a whole year to be able to buy it!

What's kinda sad is I actually fell for the Canis one since it was the most plausible one and well- it was announced at about 9:00PM over in Seattle on the 31st. I was actually pretty excited, telling my family how all the money I save on wearing the same clothes and shoes is going to burn up into Canis; and was all round really happy. I did notice the render video was a bit "off" and cheaply made to be something from AMD/Intel, but jubilance took the better of me and now- I'm just sad. xD
