Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Normal and calm can't really apply if you take 3 hours to travel 15km in hot weather...

It'd be quicker if people were smoother with how the drove instead of being jackasses most of the time. :P

Effect of being surrounded by people worse than you. :( It honestly irritates me seeing places have people with attitudes like that during driving. Just.. be normal.. and calm..

It takes One hour to travel 3km and you'll have to cut lanes about 20 times to get to your destination

And if you get caught by officials they'll ask for money for your "mistake"

Got stopped once for a 'yellow lane violation' (you might know where)... I wasn't even close to the yellow lane and was going to take a right turn in 400m...

Being smoother with how they drive will make that 3hour trip only very slightly shorter... The roads are designed horribly... I mean how dafuq do you expect that a 10-lane highway reducing to a 6-lane road in less than 300m would be able to handle the volume of traffic?

I'm gonna try it in an empty parking lot if ever I end up in Oregon or Ontario during the winter...

Hmm... Sounds like TCS and ABS would be good for that weather...

Well. For people that don't care about driving those systems are alright. And ABS does make it a whole lot safer to brake

But it is possible to make do without them. I have a friend that drives his audi ur-quattro all year. Really beefy aftermarket brakes with no abs^^

Oh yeahh , now that's what i like to see .

i could get behind that bad boy any day .

If i could afford it i would've bought it in a heartbeat. Would've been fun to cruise around in during the annual cruise night in town.

I was just honked at for coming to a full stop at a stop sign.

Lolkay

I'm guessing you're in the stockholm area? Here on the west coast people are generally pretty polite when driving :)

But when i went to stockholm i was exhausted after just one day in the traffic around there..

The lights at a few intersections were out yesterday, it's sad how many people don't know that it turns in to a multi-way stop or even how one of those even works.

How can they not get that? Even if it isn't covered in drivers ed it is pretty self explanatory

Went for a short drive today and saw this beauty...

9099800f36.jpg

R32 tuned with aftermarket intercooler... it was leaving when I took the pic so I couldn't get a better shot... it also sounded nice on startup...

Also shared the road with a ricer 2011/2012 Civic with dual fart cans... It sounded horrible...

Oh... also forgot that yellow 2012 Camaro that was beside me at a stoplight...

Actually, that's an R33. The R32 had a totally different layout for rear taillights.

Stumbled upon this pic...

Sleeper Lupo with 4.2L Audi V8...

Hmm? It looked more like an R32 up front (grille, headlight, and front bumper looked like that of the R32) (wasn't able to take pic of front because they were leaving)... Owner might've swapped the tail or the nose..

I wear mechanics gloves like these

Oil and brake fluid still seeps through though.

Can't stand the rubber ones :/ My hands feel like they are suffocating

I used them for a few months (Only gloves available in the garage) Still couldn't stand them

Having clean hands was nice. But the hand sweat kind of negated that :/

So i'll stick to my cloth/rubber mix gloves^^

I'd actually take a Legacy over a Impreza anytime of the day, unless we're talking about something like the WRX STI in the Hawkeye version, then I'd have to think A LOT about it :D

Don't do it. You will miss driving manual. I went from an 89 Supra 5-speed to a 2013 Elantra auto and after a year of driving that I was craving the stick-shift again. Finally have the 01 Golf 1.8T 5-speed now (gave the Elantra to the wife) and I'm loving driving again. :) I will never go back to auto.

I get what you mean how manual can feel like a chore some days, but I will never give it up again. ;)

Also, I don't know what Golf you have but I absolutely love mine, even though it's a beater with almost 300k kms on it. :P It still feels more solid and refined than my 2000 Civic SiR did with 90k kms. Never owned a VW before this and always thought they were kinda bland. But now I understand why people like them so much.

Look what I saw yesterday while grabbing the mail...

I know what it is because I'm a huge Porsche fan boy, but let's see who else knows? ;) It's extremely rare to see one around these parts.
