Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Hey my dad just sold his 370z and he's thinking of either getting a  370z nismo (mk2) 2009 onwards or a 2009 onwards model porsche cayman 3.4s. Out of interest which would you guys get? I think I lean towards the nismo but I'm still on the fence :)

370z is more of a "I just want to go fast" car, the cayman would be a better daily.

Nismo. IMO looks better and you probably get slightly more power out of the nismo, 350hp vs 330 in the cayman. Plus nissan parts would be cheaper to replace than porsche.

Been thinking of doing a tube front for a while. So that would work.

Tube frame seems like a lot of fab involved. Maybe just cut out the stock wheel wells? or would that just be too weak for anything?

Being able to take the entire front clip off (If its designed that way) easily to work on your car would be amaaaazing.

Yeah seeing how haggard garage has a tube front end with a removable front clip, it looks so easy to work on, even whole engine removal seems like a breeze since you don't need to lift it so high to clear anything.

I want to do a tube front too. But i get bogged down is so much minutia that by the point i'm done with the planning i'm 80 years old and the car is a heap of rust.

I don't think I ever really wanna go tube front end just because idk I feel like mounting body parts wouldn't fit as well as with the stock front end.

That's all dependent on how good you are at fabricating though. How well you designed it.

All the YT streams are down. You'll have to download the extension and go straight to the network feed.

they are fun out of the box with good tires and an alignment.

but if you want them to be REALLY fun, or even scary then you can modify them.

its like with anything really... just like people think a supra is so awesome but when they say that they mean after it has been modified to have 500hp or more lol

Suppose so, is yours the 1.8? Looking at NB's since they're at my price range, don't wanna go for the 1.6 cause I want something with a little more poke behind it than my car for day to day use. Defo wanna have a setup similar to how my mates is with coilovers and a custom alignment but will have to see if i even get one first

They only offered 1.8’s here in the US since the 1994 model.

The NC’s and ND’s only come with the 2.0L motors here.

Mazda knows the people in the US with the cheap gas rather just have the bigger motor anyway I guess lol

I would just fabricate a removable front core support so I can easily move the engine in & out plus accessing the front accessories & turbo bits would be easy. I have a guy here in Florida that can help me with the more complex tubing bends (He has that car with the tube chassis I posted a picture of).

Here’s the full visible extent of the damage to my dad’s car

Radiator core support is only $100 online for this car? Wut (its plastic)

may have a minor frame alignment issue though based on the panel gap of the fender on the opposite side of the car

@MEC-777 Good news! They've been running like this pretty much for the past 18 hours.

The only other cars in contention at the moment are the two corvettes (3 lead lap, 4 -1L) and the next cars are #61 ferrari and #912 porsche which are both -7L.
