The problem is they don't teach people how to operate and handle a car properly in normal everyday drivers education

Its required here unless you want to wait till you are 18 to drive. It doesn't help though. Pretty much everyone looks right before left and it drives me fucking insane. Hit the brakes for a lot of these idiots doing california stops looking right.

They should take them out as fast as they can go and force them to stop as fast possible. Not to mention make them slalom till they spin out so that they actually understand the limits of the car. Not this "this is the gas, that's the brake, the wheel thingy makes you go left and right, all done!"

 

Give them an old hopped up muscle car that has too much power, no brakes or handling, and no safety other than seat belts. I promise they will come out with confidence and chest hair like a man in 70's porno.

Parents been acting like everything is fine with her. I've always had a suspicion she didn't know what she was doing since she started. 

 

Today that suspicion was confirmed. 

 

Apparently msr houston does Car control stuff on a skid pad aimed at teen drivers. Might be worth the drive to Houston for that.

Well here is my 2 cents from auto-school here in Croatia . 

 

I had driven before , but no matter if you did or didnt , the first hour of driving they take you out on a closed track ( aka empty parking lot ) , and first you go around a slalom , part of which is a reverse course , and after that you need to accelerate above 60 km/h then stop in a certain distance , with ABS off without your wheels locking up . 

 

Only after you pass those two , are you allowed to go on the road . Then follow 35 hours of driving before the final test .

Problem is since she only has a permit it's a big mark on dad's insurance so he's probably just gonna buy the Kia whatever it needs

Out of pocket that's about 1k in damage easy your dad will have to pay out or go through insurance.
