HDMI connection trouble

After I moved in late August, my PC sat on my desk with all the peripherals, especially the monitor, plugged in. Everything was fine until late April. I went out of town for five days and when I got back, I started having issues with the HDMI connection with my monitor. It could resolve it by unplugging it, waiting a few seconds and plugging it back in. I thought it was dust, but I cleaned it and it still happens from time to time.
