oh well. surprisingly the light was only 140 euros. surprising because a Mercedes S500 was not a cheap car back in the day :o

I know. where you see, the little piece of blue metal above the broken rear light is dented on the other side, just a little bit. cost to repair is 1200 euros :/

Tall Pines ep is up - the last rally of the 2015 CRC season! Watching this brings back good memories of my time there 2 months ago... can't wait to do it again. It was a historic win for Sylvain Vincent as this was his last rally before retiring to help his son and co-driver progress in his own rally career.

on another note, I just found out that the Sienna has (mostly) the same engine as the Lotus Evora. The Evora sounds AMAZING.

no but it isn't much. Many have used water/methanol injection to cool down the intake air and increase power (methanol has other affects too) but it also has a side effect of "steam cleaning" the motor. since DI doesnt have gas flowing over the intake valves, at the least having a little water would certainly help.

It's not like a garden hose. lol. It's atomized like fuel. If done right, it doesn't harm anything but helps cool/clean the engine. It's common on highly modified, high hp engines to help cool the combustion temps. 

 

Why don't all direct injection motors use water injection by default? I mean that would for the most part solve the carbon buildup on the intake valve issue

 

Mainly cost and it's unnecessary. People just need to learn to floor it every once and a while and stop driving like panzies all the time. Getting on a on ramp onto the the highway? Floor it! Need to get up to speed anyways and this will help keep the valves clean. ;)

With forced induction cars it makes more sense, but even then it's a bit on an necessary complexity. 

 

Sure it can be very good at cooling the intake charge, but with the rather conservative stoich on the vast majority of production cars, it's just not a large enough benefit.

 

Personally I am waiting on electronically actuated valves. Unlimited variability in both timing and valving, combined with the loss of the throttle body. That will be the next big step.
