Hello everyone. I've been watching this thread for a while and finally decided to join in on the conversation! I love cars, mostly 90s cars. BMW is probably my favorite brand, but I love anything German. I'm currently in the market for a new car, after my E36 was totaled by a drunk driver (asshole). I am looking into E34/E32/E39/E38 as possible candidates. I have a long commute to work, so a big, comfy highway cruiser would be the best bet. Anyone have any experience with them? How is it? Alternatives? I'm pretty set on a Bimmer, but if any Mercedes or Audi fans want to chime in, I'll be glad to listen.

i see you like the e39. the e39 is excellent as a comfy highway cruiser, and if you want the m5, it's also fun to drive, according to some sources.

I just chose to put the E39 on that list because one of my friends from the local BMW group has a really cool one. I like the older ones a bit more (E34). The angular styling is amazing. And no M5 for me haha. I want something fuel efficient. This is going to be my daily driver

well if driven carefully, i've seen some get 25+mpg, even with that thirsty 5.0. plus, the sound when you open the taps on a muffler delete are astounding.

i mean, just need some really strong rope and some hooks. that's probably the most crude way. but it could still work.

That works all fine and dandy, you just have to know where to hook the vehicle up.

 

Honestly I wouldn't try and tow anyone out if they didn't have something out there that's body on frame. I'd also prefer it to have a hitch to throw a tow strap around. Hell that might make me start carrying an extra hitch. Need a tow? Just slide that thing in and throw the strap on, giverhell!

With a Mustang if all else fails just wrap the rear axle and pull it, shit is on lock tight. I know there's a few spots on the rails up front you can connect but you do have to be careful of snagging on things.

since when did an e36 m3 have a v8 ever? the m3 didn't get a v8 till the e92, and that was the only time it ever got a v8.

@terrytek I don't think you'll be able to get 25 MPG from a E39 M5. My dads E46 325i (Hopefully going to be mine) gets about 27, and that's a 2.5L straight 6
