Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Does this suspension still look useable, or should I consider replacing it sometime soon?

That's like asking if this series of numbers look like they're going to win the lottery. That strut could be 100% fine with just a shredded boot or it could be 100% blown internally. If it's more than 100K miles or 10 years I would say the strut should be replaced.

Sorry about that, it's just that I know basically nothing about suspension.

well does the car sag a bit? or does it feel very bouncy over bumps? if so, strut is probably bad, if otherwise, you're probably still good.

Everything feels fine, but all the rubber bits just disintegrated when I touched them so I was wondering if dirt could've gotten into the important parts.

Edit: I also don't know when the suspension was last replaced but considering the condition of the rubber parts, it's probably pretty old.

They're probably original and should be replaced if this is the 2004 Corolla. I suggest KYB struts with new boots, new top mounts, the OE springs are probably fine to reuse. Having never driven the car with properly working struts you actually don't know if they're riding fine or not and if you have the average number of miles for an 04 of around 150,000 miles then those struts were in need of replacement 50,000 miles ago.

No ones said anything but I’m actually enjoying the current season of the grand tour. Though I suspect it is the last... not sure

the Jim Clark episode was awesome

@bcredeur97 Right!?! The segment about Clark was the best bit of the Grant Tour so far.
