Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Driving a lowered car these days is hard. I constantly think I'm getting flashed at from behind, but it's actually just a big ass SUV with crazy bright factory lights, hitting a dip in the road.

But when you drive a truck and their lights are still bright, then you flash them. (Everyone that lives around me)

You don't know blindness until a lifted F-250 with Xenons in reflector housings is behind you at a light.. and you're in a miata.

Don't look at any mirrors... it burns

TBH hes probably doing you a favor having them in reflector housings and wasting all those lumens by scattering it, probably blinding low flying aircraft.  If he had the light properly focused it would still be shining into your mirrors because his lights are still mounted above the roof of your car.

Solution of course is to get a giant wing to block out the light....

That’s not tall enough, but it’s too tall for blocking the mirrors.... I got it! A double stack wing is what’s needed here.

At night I just use my power mirror button to turn the mirrors out a little bit. Its dark. Can't see shit out of them anyway

My mirrors are actually turned all the way out 100% of the time.

A. Because I like them further out than most people i know... mostly because I prefer it. I don’t want to stare at my quarter panel, I want to see what’s next to me

B. In a Miata and at my height and position, this just so happens to be as far outwards as the mirrors can go

C... since the car is so narrow and trucks are wide...and I’m below them, their lights line up in that perfect way to be aimed directly at the mirrors which then proceed to reflect all of it  directly into my and my passengers face. One of my little sisters who likes to ride in my car sometimes hates to ride in it at night due to this. And there’s nothing I can do :(

so yeah miatas... not good night time cars  lol

im sure you could import one here for a few grand more.. especially if you only use it off road

You could just get a Hilux for half the cost and twice the reliability. Also works for a cool car if you cut the springs.

Hard to find any sort of security lugnuts that are worth a damn. The best thing I've found is rimlox but $400 for 4 of them.

Idk if I care really...

if you have $10k worth of wheels... sure.

or just a very very special car... sure.

But for a normal car... if someone stole my wheels... even if you didn’t have insurance.... I mean yeah it sucks but  that’s what an emergency fund is for.

I def wouldn’t go out of my way to find good wheel locks and/or spend exhuberent amounts of money on them.

On my current car I don't really care because they're replicas, and wheel theft isn't popular here. More prowling because people leave their shit unlocked. If I got a newer car I'd care. You are looking at 400 dollars a wheel, plus tires. With the low profile tires on new cars they also run 200 a piece or more. Add in whatever damage is caused by them removing the wheels and you could be well over $5k.

Just more curious why there hasn't been a good design. Rimlox uses a really nice low profile lock. Even if OEMs stepped up their game and put rotating sleeves on their kits it'd be a big improvement.

Even with stock or dim lights on higher vehicles people still complain about it. People are the ones that chose a vehicle that low, kinda get to live with it.

Back when I first bought my Mustang, it had locking lugnuts on it, of course the key was nowhere to be found.

I took a socket that was just too small to fit over the lugnut, and ran it over the lug-nut with an air hammer then buzzed the lug-nut off. After that I put the edges of the socket on the jaws of a vise and smacked the lug-nut out of the socket with a hammer and punch. Took maybe 10 min to remove all of the lugnuts.

This experience depleted any faith I had in locking lug-nuts.

My Miata came with wheel locks originally but they were causing a vibration... which apparently the OEM ones were known to do.

So I just replaced them with normal lugs...

That's what I did on my Mustang too. The locking nuts I've seen cause more problems than they solve.

Although maybe I'm just jaded since I've never even heard of anyone having wheels stolen.

Aww shit!

The Jeep Gladiator page is up! No pricing information though. :(

https://www.jeep.com/build.gladiator.2020#/models/zipcode/63376/vehicle/CUJ202011/ccode/CUJ202011JTJL98A/llp/2TB/options/ERC,DEM,TQK,WAA,A7,SDA,DME,UAA,X9,PRC,23B,APA

Kinda neat, but given Fiats latest pricing strategy, I fear it'll be starting at $35k.
