Oooh yeah there are certainly worse speeds than that.

Depending on how many devices are using bandwidth, I've gotten speeds of 7-800Kb download in Steam.

Oh boy if you think your speeds are the worst you need a quick slap to the face.

You really don't know what's trying to download a 65GB game at 128kbps

1.6Mbps sounds like from another galaxy to me.

edit: for me it doesn't takes hours, it takes WEEKS, tom clancy's ghost recon wildlands took 9 DAYS to download, wolfenstein the new colossus 6 days, yet I still buy them, and 128kbps is the theoretical peak download speed, the average is 90 or less lol

Ehh, crunching some numbers, you're looking at about 108 hours and some change. Not insurmountable. I've encoded videos that took longer.

I do have to say I'm lucky with my internet connection.

A friend of mine has 0.2MB/s (Not Mbps)

It was only about 2 or 3 years ago that I was able to get DSL internet. Prior to that I was limited to only Dial-Up internet at a max speed of 56kbps (7KB/s). Forget the time that it took to download a steam game - I couldn't even log in to steam. My Telco had a 10 hour limit on calls which meant every 10 hours the internet would disconnect and you would need to dial-in again to reconnect. This meant downloading files over 100MB would be extremely difficult as the internet would disconnect before it completed, often causing corruption even when using download managers.

Wireless 3G was available at the time, however it was so congested that it was often the same speed or slower than dial up, far less reliable, and far more expensive.

i've always wondered couldn't one person just purchase a 100mb up/100mb down package from their ISP than split that connection among 5-10 neighbors? Even if the connection is really expensive per month it will be shared so no single person has to pay the whole bill. the same could be done with fiber. a 1000mb connection is enough for like, 20 households all streaming HD video and even if it costs $300 a month that would be shared among 20 households meaning each household will only pay $15 a month.

Absolute worse case scenario is someone uses the connection for illegal purposes which comes back to the account holder, but more likely scenario is the ISP will terminate your account for on-selling or resupplying their service against their ToS. Best case scenario is there is one power user in the bunch that will saturate the network by downloading 4000GB of anime and ruin it for the rest of the users, at which point you'll need to yell "Dammit Mike, stop downloading Sailor Moon I'm trying to watch LinusTechTips" over your fence.

Mine is 1000mbps uploads download in both direction on my wired university internet. 500mbps on my university ac WiFi. Hahahaha

too bad I can’t torrent on the network. Besides that, 20 gb steam games usually finish downloading under 5 minutes and my cpu is always at 100% usuage during the downloads.

I do find the data limit annoying.

Currently I have a 750GB limit, up & down combined. For most people this seems like enough, but me being a streamer & all that actually really doesn't help.

Sad part, they do not even offer a truly unlimited data plan in Belgium.  Not with decent speeds, such a shame IMHO.

I've got it pretty good.  I get 80mbps down and about 30mbps up.  I have a 1TB data limit but if I find myself exceeding it the addon to for unlimited is only and extra $15 a month.  I'll gladly cut down on a bit of coffee if I need more bandwidth.

Sadly my complex will not be getting Telus Fibre (150 up and down) due to the design of our complex and how hard it would be to run the fibre.
