In all seriousness though, these sorts of mining farms are not that rare. Most of the large custom farms are also set up without ever touching retail prices making guesses of costs incorrect. They get the hardware in bulk OEM orders with bare minimums. Large enough special orders won't include a heatsinks or fans to keep costs even lower.

well I did the calc at .15 kwh.  13k a month at current difficulty for litecoin. I'd take it, even as it drops off you still get a nice return.

 

I wish I had resources to do something like this and take advantage while you can....is worth it as long as the market doesn't crash...it took a nosedive yesterday.

 

I'm actually tempted by the new BL Monarch 600 GHs...if I could come up with 5k for one I'd do it. I'd like to have 2.

If this leads to less people mining, the difficulty should drop. He would be able to mine even more coins than previously calculated/expected.

 

As an investment perspective he made the a solid choice in buying mining hardware directly versus the coins.

At first, I had the notion the guy made a huge mistake and was going to burn his investment down very quickly. Then I read the thread and it seems like this is a temporary solution because he is having problems with risers. Still, I think mining for a decent amount of time with all three cards plugged right next to each other and then the PSU as well is a recipe for disaster. In a normal setup, just one rig - not a huge problem, but having 3x2 (even though it looks like it's 3x1 right now) is just asking for problems.

 

Wouldn't it just suck if ASIC miners came out and made GPU mining unprofitable again in just a few months. I know I saw an ad (though I don't know/can't confirm if it was a scam) for buying into a LTC ASIC Mining partnership. They proclaimed to have found out how to do it and were in the process of purchasing parts and expected to be running in late April/May.

Although gambling ~80k USD in hopes that LTC will continue to be profitable, even after the whole china incident , is kinda... Iffy.
