Wheres Air Pressure Investigation Part 2?

arbellason55
Go to solution Solved by LinusTech,

We're also frequently late on sponsored stuff if that makes any difference to any of you. LG TV Window pt3 is months late, and so was the Samsung ultimate RAID thing. Stuff happens.

We do our best to put out the best video we can each within the constraints that we have.

We'll get to it :)

I hope the dust doesn't mess with the results, thought it would just exacerbate any differences.

Yours faithfully

Isn't dust the actual benchmark? seeing which one out of positive pressure, negative pressure or equal pressure has the biggest impact on dust buildup? so the dust is supposed to mess with the results as that's what they're after

The cases are behind green screen or B-Roll setting. So they aren't anywhere near construction parts.

I'm starting the apocalypse. RESURRECTING A DEAD THREAD!!!!!!

I bet the warehouse construction just wrecked the dust test. Drywall dust is super fine and clings to everything. But of course this will probably show the worst case scenario. Plus the dust is white so it will stand out in the Define R5.

I see this as a worst case scenario to me, imitating, what, about 4 years? though since it's superfine, dust filters won't do much...

The thread mentions that it was made in December 2016 so we are still a couple of months off!!! It's getting interesting though!

It has been mentioned several times in WAN Show and Luke's twitter that cases were protected from construction dust. Its true that there will be some extra dust around still. But not excessive amounts. You can see about how much when they clean WAN Show set in Organization Vlog pt. 3.

I was actually just thinking about the machines. It will be interesting, but the differences probably won't be huge if at all noticable.

Anyone remember the video a few years back when they moved into the warehouse and they were going to test two different configurations of airflow through 2 cases they were going to leave on 24/7 and hide off to the side (behind one of the sets) to see if positive and negative air pressure resulted in more dust build up in the case.  They were going to follow up on it and I am not sure if they ever did, does anyone know?  I am curious about the result but I think I know the answer anyways.

It has been about 9 months since the video, there is no conclusion yet.

Yes. They didn't make the follow up yet, they said after 1 year. But, if you look at the organization vlog (forgot which part) you can see at least one of the systems.

Believe it or not, this same question is asked almost bi-weekly. At least once a month. Some people are soooo impatient.

I think they did mention it on wan show recently or something, past few weeks about the mezzanine and moving shit. So yea, it's still running OP

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I guess that depends on if they even remembered it was still going, but I've never seen it mentioned since I saw the video, in comments or like the wan show or anything
