Statements that trigger tech fans.

The thing is, it's not just random people who don't know, it's basically everyone.  Tech reviewers, Intel themselves, etc. they use "threads" interchangeably with "logical cores"

I guess it's time to embrace the horribleness. Like how "literally" means "figuratively" now.

Well, that or fight it I guess, but most days I can't be bothered.

Funny you should mention that example though, use of literally like that dates back to at least the early 1800s if not further.  I do find it unfortunate though, it strips the word of almost all meaning, which in itself is already a shame, but it also makes it difficult to state something literally since you have to use some other word now.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Title.

What are some tech-related things that people say that trigger you or other tech fans?

Personally, when someone sys "memory" when they mean "storage" it makes me cringe. I once even had a phone-repair shop employee tell me " the ram is what gives your phone its speed"....

I have one that makes my shit go mad. Feel happy to get triggered all you want after reading this filthiness:

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

Why do you have an Athlon X4 950? A Celeron G3930 or G3950 have better scores overall (and the G3930 is cheaper, at 44.99), and those are the lowest SKU´s on Intel´s 7th Gen

Probably because there's an upgrade path for him on AM4.

Sincerely, someone who owns an Athlon X4 950.

Or "My 8-core ARM processor kicks your quad-core Intel's butt because I have more cores" :P

Not directed at the quoted author, but really, comparing one spec to another and claiming higher values mean better isn't really doing anyone any favors. Otherwise CPU Boss is a legitimate comparison tool and we've no need for things like Cinebench scores.

Hey, about the statement I posted (the one that makes me triggered) do I have a legitimate reason to be mad?

Sometimes, completing 3-4 tasks at the same time is more important than completing only 2 at a time, even if the second option is faster overall.

I get triggered when people correct others with incorrect information.   Especially when they gloat or laugh at people while doing it.

Things like when people try to differentiate between disc and disk, they are the same thing.  One is not specific to optical discs.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

" the ram is what gives your phone its speed"....

Yeah that is the oldest one in the book, people who compare devices speed based on their system ram... I remember once someone asked me for a laptop recommendation for just web browsing and light work on Office.

Knowing the person's habit to use only cloud services as well like YouTube and Netflix without the need for bigger storage I search and search and search....

Found a killer deal on an i5 7200u with a 256gb SSD... only had 4gb of RAM but out of own experience I knew he wouldn't need it and I also knew this laptop was going to be fast enough.

Result is that he got scared out and instead of discussing it with me the possibility to upgrade its memory to 8gb he went and bought instead, advised by some moron, at same pricing an i3 5010u, 8gb ram and a 1tb 5400rpm 2,5 HDD.

Moral of the story he only uses 80ish GB of on the HDD and has complained to me more than once that the laptop is painfully slow that he can't understand how it is worse if it has the double memory... /facepalm.

It is frustrating the inexperience of some people.

Anything a computer salesman will say to get a sale. I've had to interrupt a good few times from false facts or statements to sell 'tech ignorant' people crap in my years as a techie.

luckely where i live there is barely any of this, every time i see a salesman going on about a product to some clearly non techy people he has been correct, not that that makes it more ethical to sell someone a desktop with a GT 710 as a gameing machine, but it is indeed slightly better then a pentiums IGPU xD

you just dont get your moneys worth buying a prebuilt HP or Acer or whatever the shit from a store unless you go spend $800-$1200

First off, what, and how do you define "optimized" as?

all i can offer you is the usage percentages for Paladins on Northern Bee and the framerates:

start screen: 50% GPU usage

ingame 30%-40% GPU usage

champion select: 70% GPU usage

CPU usage is around 20% on 4 cores

ingame FPS, at 1440p maxed out, 150ish fps, drops 100fps when you jump, drops down to single digits if you get caught up in a heavy battle 5v5... yah.

this is a poorly optemized game because it cant even begin to use the resources it could... an optemized game however is hard to pick out, but a shit optemized one is easy to spot generally
