Oh boy. While I haven't got the specific details laid out as it's still a couple years out, here's the idea of what I'm planning on.

Minimum of 24 threads, probably more like 32. At least 64gb ram, probably more like 96gb. At least 12tb of raid 10 hdd space with a couple of ssd's.

Basically what I'm going to be doing with the computer is running a few VMs. 2 for me, 1 for my 'roommate' and maybe a couple others for general stuff.

i have no plans of updating my current rig. i have no reason to. the first thing would be more storage and then maybe a better GPU when the 1060 starts getting old

I dunno. I'm still trying to get my hands on a Ncase M1 & a spare side panel so I can mod a piece of tempered glass into it and another M.2 drive, probably a 512GB 960 EVO.

But my system is fine for what I do. I'd also probably move to 1440P, I was eyeing off some nice Dell 27" 1440P IPS monitors earlier this year & then i'd even consider a beefier GPU to drive games at that resolution at higher settings.

Case: Ncase M1 V5 Black CPU: Intel Core i5 12600 MB: AORUS Z690i RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR4 SSD: WD SN770 500GB | WD SN750 250GB

Cooler: Noctua NH-L9x65 GPU: EVGA RTX 3070 XC3 Ultra 8GB PSU: Corsair SF600 80+ Platinum Fans: Noctua NF-F12x 2 | Noctua NF-A9x14

I do incremental updates every few months/one year. I've just bought an RX580 and the next upgrade will likely be the CPU only (I've got an i6700K at the moment). I use the PC for development, video editing, virtual machines, gaming.

Do you need all that ram for a few WMs? Wow. I run many VMs at the same time for testing and "only" have 32GB.

Need? probably not 96 but definitely more then 64. I just use a lot of ram. Like I normally idle around 9gb as is.

I Currently have a really solid 1440p System so i wont be upgrading for a few years to come by, maybe in 5 ~ 7 years perhaps ? but when i do then i am hoping for something like this.

CPU - 12 cores 24 threads with really good IPC and at least 32 PCIe lanes. (Any Brand)

GPU - Hmm 5080ti or something with similar perfomance?

Ram - 128 GB

Storage - Hmm i dunno i really cant gauge this one but i do want to bump up my SSD to 1x 1TB drive + 1x 2 TB Drive

Monitor - 32" 4k 144hz IPS 4MS with G-Sync

I use my system for application development, code testing, running VM's and ofc gaming.

Microsoft in there infinite wisdom have decided to impose a VRAM cap for games the that use DX9 o.O. May God Bless them those whoever came up with that idea.

It's gonna be basically what I have now, but with a better GPU. Not sure when I'm gonna get another GPU though.

Currently planning on keeping the PC that I have for the next couple of years! 1080 TI and i7 8700k are the main components. However, I do plan on building my girlfriend a PC in the upcoming future, using my last processor (i5 6600k) and an older GTX 960 that I had laying around.

Im looking at a new build. With about a $2000 budget. But thats also includes a 1440p monitor. Im still not sure on a lot. Been trying to decide if I want to stick with my Fractal Design R4 or go with a Mini ITX build. I know im going to do 16 Gigs of Ram and Im going to be using the Samsung 840 Evo I just bought to replace my failed SSD and Im going to be using the 2 1TB hard disks currently in my machine. Besides that I have no clue yet.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Just bought the parts in Detroit Microcenter...  Now I have to get them back to D.C. Anyway I got an i5-8600k with an H60 cooler, don't intend to OC right away, 16GB of DDR4-3000 Trident Z RGB, ASUS RoG 1070 ti A8G, 500GB Samsung 850 Evo, ASUS RoG Z370-E, Corsair CX650M, all inside a Phanteks P400S case with an RGB and fan controller, in addition to an RGB strip and a tempered glass side panel. I'm quite happy with the result, and it means a lot because it's my first build and I had to work quite a bit to get the money (I'm 14). Also thanks to the LTT community who helped me through part picking and who will hopefully help in the assembly process!

Honestly? Don't know, but what ever I pick now would probably change by the time I upgrade. Why upgrade my pc when I can buy power tools and engine mods.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige
