People are having them shatter from 3 ft. Almost any phone would shatter from 6ft.

II know everything apple pro beat the living shit out of a few and they seem fine I think it just has to due with some batches of glass being shitter then others.

In this case, size does matter. Video is irrelevant to the paper thin glass on phones.

They marketed it as the most durable glass, but it's still glass and unless you're glass is thick enough to be measured in inches (or large fractions of an inch), it's still going to be fragile no matter what. Anyone who thinks modern paper-thin sheets of glass can magically not break is a moron.

That's stupid. Why would anyone think a glass phone is durable? It's glass. Thin glass.

I am surprised that they haven't tried laminating the glass. I'd assume it'd make it stronger if it was thick enough.

I don't think concrete will ever play nicely with glass. And I don't expect it to.

Nope. Just reading what they wrote. I don't even necessarily believe it, and frankly won't look into it because I don't care for Apple phones. However, they stated glass, just like Motorola states it with their phones. They don't say most durable phone for good reason.

I work in a phone shop and someone came in with one and said the dropped it a few inches onto a table and the back completely cracked from one corner to the other. Very delicate I'd say.

Either they are the most unlucky person alive....

 

Or they lied to you, and probably dropped it 3-4 feet onto concrete, without a case.

Idk my S8+ has held up surprisingly well, and apple apparently uses Gorilla Glass just something a little more custom that apparently doesn't hold up as well.

Heck I dropped my S6 onto asphalt from about that height and all that happened was some scuffing on the metal frame.

I laughed way harder at this than I should have.

 

On the other hand my question is, is the glass more durable than on the 4/4s? Because I had to wear gloves with my first 4 and I did only drop it from a wall outlet height.

Hey now, my brain is slow today and I didn't think that far.

 

And going by some of the posts people have made it out like it the most fragile device ever so I thought I would add to the discussion and more so make a point of it mostly likely not being as bad as the 4/4s. My question was mostly rhetorical but I suppose I did an awful job at making that obvious, which goes back to my brain being slow today lol.

The glass on my original 4 still has its factory glass. Don't see how people always manage to crack these things after a week of ownership.
