Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Blackberry, and others are suing Google, Samsung, HTC, ASUS, LG, and others - May the World War I of tech begin

(Multiple sources, cause why not?)

Quoted from the VentureBeat article:

Yesterday, on Halloween, a consortium of companies including Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Ericsson, and BlackBerry filed lawsuits again Android manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, Asustek, and ZTE, as well as other Android manufacturers. All the lawsuits target Google as well, if only indirectly, and one mentions the company by name, saying its core money-maker, Adwords, violates a 1998 patent.

Quoted from the Reuters article:

Rockstar, the consortium that bought the Nortel patents for $4.5 billion, sued Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, HTC Corp, Huawei and four other companies for patent infringement in U.S. District Court in Texas. Rockstar is jointly owned by Apple, Microsoft, Blackberry, Ericsson and Sony.

Google is accused of infringing seven patents. The patents cover technology that helps match Internet search terms with relevant advertising, the lawsuit said, which is the core of Google's search business.

Oh my, what a mess. I'm wondering why they're suing now instead of earlier, but hey, whatever. This should be a very interesting battle because you have the BIGGEST tech heavy-weight champions going up against each other:

Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Ericsson, and Blackberry

vs.

Google, Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, ASUS, and ZTE

I guess you could say that the World War I of tech has just begun. This will definitely be an interesting case to follow along with.

Microsoft, Sony, Apple and blackberry...

It just happens to be the companies that make consoles, "apple" or blackberry who haven't been seen for 10 years
Because of the measure to prevent patent trolls (making them pay for legal costs if it turns out thier lawsuit is largely unfounded) it seems a bunch of them got together to attack those who are making money, microsoft is already making a killing from googles android, blackberry went to hell and died with all the lawyers, bankers and other businessmen who used them, apple are apple..and sony's only current product with a possible future is a console that they will be likely making at a loss (for now) so they need to cash to tie them over...

Well. This is certainly a case of "who do I hate the most"? Asus definitely being the only company I like among them.

I think I hate Google the most.

Yeah I think I want Google to lose. The more power is taken away from them, the better. Whatever this lawsuit really is about.

Although I do despise Microsoft a whole heck of a lot too... :/

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

What are you doing in there, Ericsson? Don't go playing with these big boys, you'll get hurt.

I don't know why some people want Google to lose.

They are the victim in this scenario.

Also I'll be extremely interested in what patents start getting thrown around by HTC.

I am of the opinion that computing hardware and some software technology should be excluded from IP law.  The only companies that can succeed should be the ones who develop what the consumer wants at a price they can afford. If you can't survive making the hardware consumers want then you have no right to use the legal system to control the ones that can.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
