The publisher's community representative UbiJurassic initially confirmed the news in a forum post, stating, "We can confirm that For Honor is an always online experience. Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the internet at all times to play For Honor."

 

GameSpot has since received confirmation from Ubisoft that For Honor will indeed require an internet connection.

Honestly not a big deal for me, or likely 98% of customers as persistent internet connections are common these days even with entry level DSL plans. 

 

If you can honestly cross your hand on your heart and swear that you play your games without access to the internet for the majority of the time then comment below.

 

Might be an issue for console release though... That would suck.

Because there are people who live in places where internet is expensive or very limited. Single player games are very precious to them. I'm not one of them, but what Ubisoft is doing is stupid. CDPR has taught people how it's done and some companies are still refusing to learn.

While I understand the disappointment, and frustration of developers changing things through the production of a title, I will never understand why people get upset. Especially those that have absolutely nothing invested in the title. Guess what, it's their game. They're free to change it the way they see fit.

 

As with all things, vote with your wallet. If you were going to buy the game, and don't they'll feel it.

If you preordered it with that feature in mind, cancel you preorder.

They'll feel it, and either change their stance on this title or in future titles.

If they don't. Then I guess your money didn't really matter, and you're in the vast majority. So sad.

Well would you be happy if your game cut out mid session because say your router released your dhcp ip? Or if your pc had a hickup and lost connection?

 

Those things happen so fast that to the user it just seems like a slow connection. But for an always online game it counts as a disconnect and which shut you out of your game.

if the internet goes out, or if Ubi services go out, you cannot play a single player game - that's what the problem with always online DRM is

1: Thats a pretty rare occasion. Like once a month at most

2: I don't really care anyways, there are plenty of offline games for me to play. And If I don't have them installed I will just call a friend and see if they want to hang out or go to a movie.
