Phil Schiller wasn't lying when he said this launch had extremely high demand. I think the biggest positive that comes out of this is the sudden influx of USB-C devices that will invade the market.

Does it mean TVs will now ship with USB-type C ports? USB C can also do video in and out. I wonder when will the iPhone ship with a USB C port.

I don't think USB-C will appear on iPhones. Both the male and female part of lightning is smaller than USB-C and of course, lightning licensing makes Apple a lot of money too. Instead, I think Apple will begin bundling USB-C to lightning cables in the near future.

 

Different markets will adapt to this change at a different pace than some other markets. For example, I think smartphones will all be on USB-C by the end of 2017 and most mobile devices as well. Bigger ticket items that aren't concerned with space (think desktops, TVs, audio equipment) will offer both USB-C and legacy ports.

 

I'm more excited about peripherals and having them all join the USB-C train. For example, a battery bank that offers USB-C so I don't have to deal with USB-A and microUSB. Charging cables (although their quality and spec is another topic altogether) is going to make things so much easier going forward. Charge my laptop, phone, tablet, etc all using the same cable.

Well, good for them. Hopefully they put that earned cash to good use, for future products and that they can justify that "spaceship" campus 2, with innovative technology.

 

I suppose its really close to being done with and i cant wait to see some aerial footage from the place!

It has probably been said a billion times in this forum and even in this thread but the horsepower given for the price of the thing is terrible, 1400 for a dual core and 8gb of ram won't get you my money no matter how nice everything else is. The god like customer service won't fix waiting an era for a render or lag when dealing with very high resolution photoshop.

The irony is that we'll start to see lots of trends of people bitching about the lack of ports, the performance, etc. Just because it's so popular and at the same time so flawed, yet that's people for you: buy into the stupid fucking marketing then bitch about an inferior product.

 

We need way more than Trump to purge this fucking floating rock of stupidity: Nukes can't come soon enough.

The term "Pro" has truly lost its meaning with Macbook Pro and Playstation 4 Pro...

People who hate apple will keep saying the same thing: terrible price/performance ratio, crappy specs, lack of ports etc. 

And people who buy macbook pros every time will keep buying them. 

 

It is just as simple as that. And I am more lean on the latter one. I rather save a lot more money / buy a second hand macbook than buying a windows laptop. 

Don't get me wrong, I have a PC at home for gaming. But for laptop I have to use a macbook.... I just prefer OS X to windows.... 

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

No it's not. The Base 13" is spec'd comparably to the $1400 XPS 13, except the Mac has a (20%~) better iGPU (HD 540 vs. 620), SSD, and trackpad while the XPS 13 has a touch screen and a better keyboard.

And so does the XPS 13. The $1500 XPS 13 has an i5-7200u, 8gb RAM, 3200x1800 touch screen, HD620, PCIE SSD. The Mac has an i5-6360u, 8gb RAM, 2560x1600 (non-touch), HD540, faster PCIE SSD. 

 

Those $500 laptops usually have a shit 1366x768 TN screen, terrible build quality, garbage trackpads/keyboards, SATA HDDs (maybe a shitty sata ssd if you're lucky), shit battery life, and an i3.

It's perfectly functional for video editing in FCPX, and motion animation in Motion.

Seriously is all anyone here cares about gaming? I'd never buy a Mac solely for gaming, but I would again for FCPX over Adobe's packages.

 

Even then you can easily play some of the world's most popular games with that iGPU as well.

People are still constantly complaining about it not having enough GPU performance, well, there's an example of it having more.
