I got a a spec-ed out 13'' MacBook Pro, despite that I hate Apple as a company, just because everyone at work has one and I am done been looked down on as the guy that can't afford to get one... miserable f*cks coworkers... I plan to run Windows 10 on it though. LOL

By the way, I liked Windows Vista when it came out. It was such a milestone for Microsoft coming from Windows XP.

Nvidia limits the amount of VRM on purpose as part of planned obsolescence.

Nvidia cards run hotter than most people think.

The GTX 970 memory nightmare will backfire eventually when games actually start using the "broken" VRAM.

Freesync/g-sync is a bit overhyped and isn't worth the 100 bucks nvidia asks for it.

Mobile g-sync is just freesync with another fancy name.

Android phones with a physical keyboard are actually great and need to come back.

Clamshell smartphones need to be available where i live.

Intel 1151 platform is overpriced.

Fighting piracy causes sales to go down instead of up.

Ps: i'm not an AMD fanboy, i just hate a lot of things nvidia does and they have imo a better rep than they deserve. Another unpopulair opinion of me :D

SSDs are massively overrated. I boot my computer a couple of times a day so I could give a shit if it takes 30 seconds less. I also think small SSDs are complete wastes. The only real advantage I find with my SSD is in loading times for games, so in the days of 60 GB games no SSD smaller than 250 GB makes any sense in a gaming system.

They're SUPER great if you have a laptop (like I do.) Before I put an SSD in, it took around 10 seconds for the system to wake up (firstworldproblems.) With the SSD, the computer wakes up pretty much instantaneously.

My unpopular opinion - buy an RX 480 8GB over a GTX 1060 6GB, because once more games start using Async Compute with Vulkan and DX12, you'll thank yourself. Just wait until they're not $300.

I used to be quite active here.

4:3 is the best screen aspect ratio for everything that's not watching video shot in a different aspect ratio.

Discussion of aesthetics and fashion, even in relation to computer hardware/software/web design/fonts does not belong in a technology forum.

All smartphones on sale today are horrible due to Android being a pile of security vulnerabilities and spyware masquerading as an OS and iOS being an American jail doing the same.

If they're tastefully done, I'll go with it. Otherwise...

I hate the current gen of GPUs (Cooler wise).

I miss the clean lines of XFX, Sapphire, TwinFrozr4  etc. (AMD stock coolers look nice, but suck.)

I also think Windows 10 is a real pain. It's taken away my control over my computer to a certain extent.

Fanboys are only good for entertaining arguments, I don't care if a card is red or green as long as the screen isn't black.

Red, orange, and yellow shouldn't be on components unless they're on fire.

The PS2 is still the best console.

  1. I don't like Razer peripherals. Corsair and Logitech all the way!!!
  2. BUT I do think the Logitech MX Master is overpriced for what it is.
  3. Motorola is the best smartphone manufacturer right now.
  4. RGB mousepads are stupid. So are RGB headsets - they're on your head! It's not like you're going to see all of the effects while using it!
  5. I prefer noise reduction over cooling performance - as long as it doesn't catch on fire.
  6. X99 is overpriced and stupid. I'd go for a Xeon if I wanted to create content, and a quad-core consumer i7 for gaming and other things.
  7. I prefer Xbox over PlayStation. But Nintendo DS FTW for casual gaming!

I've always wondered about that, there has to be a reason why they don't offer a color selection.

Brand recognition.  When you see those ugly-ass fans, you know they're Noctua, and you know they're good.  As a side note, I don't think that the industrial black/brown scheme is bad.  In fact, I'm buying one soon.

My Moto X Pure is amazing. Even if it's not technically a Motorola. But maybe it is. I'm not sure when exactly Lenovo bought their mobile division. It's loud, and cheap, and has an excellent replacement plan. $80 on day one, then up to 3 times I can replace the whole thing for $50.

$75/repair for a phone this bad! With a replacement sent to me before I send in the broken one! I love Motorola!

Windows 8 is my favorite iteration of Windows and 7 isn't any better than Vista.

Red color schemes are prevalent because they are great (deep blood red is a gorgeous color).

The Razer Naga is the best productivity mouse in the world.

Crappy hardware is no excuse for anything less than stellar cable management.

Spinning rust in a general-purpose computer is completely unacceptable.

IKEA is ludicrously overpriced (I use plastic folding tables for my PC, no joke).

Origin isn't a bad gaming platform.

I agree with the 4:3 ratio, but smartphones being horrible? :( Maybe so, but I use my smartphone more than any other technology, more than computers, cars, toilets, and artificial lighting, combined. (Probably)

OK, let's get into preaching mode and have some fun :P

- I join the mechanical-keyboard-hating bandwagon. I dislike everything it's supposed to be an advantage about them (well, except pressing more than X keys simultaneously, but that's model-dependent).

- No component should have a led unless it serves a meaningful signaling purpose (I don't need a led to know a fan is spinning). Being able to adjust their color by software adds no value, they still must go. Adding led strips to a build is the ultimate sin (at least you can justify using components with unwanted leds because they were the best technically or the cheapest).

- Computer screens peaked at 16:10. 16:9 is fine for movies, but I can live with black horizontal bands in that use case. For everything else, 16:10. 1080 is definitely too damn short for office, etc. 4:3 is not wide enough. Deviations from 1920x1200 are only acceptable to go higher, which may justify the cost of going 16:9. 1200 is a sacred lower bound.

- There were legitimate use cases for FX CPUs given their price.

- App store, Google Play, and anything resembling them are bad ideas (except for the companies managing them).

- Steam and any similar platform are also bad. Intermediation is bad. Offline is good.

- A PC's performance isn't summarized by an FPS figure.

- It's not a bottleneck.
