Forza Horizon 3 PC requirements revealed! DX 12 and Windows 10 required!

AlTech

It's quite a pretty game. I've thought about getting it, but I'm not going to put my money in the Windows 10 Store just yet until long after reviews are out, remembering what happened last time with games like Quantum Break. Halo 5: Forge at least exceeded my (extremely low) expectations, despite being a ginormous colossal game.

And rather than sometimes working on older hardware, it takes better hardware than the ones listed for recommended (Same bs for Halo 5 Forge)

Funny enough, Halo 5: Forge requires an i5, but it ran without very little issues whatsoever on my Intel Core i3-6100/GTX 960 rig that weren't present on my current Intel Core i7-6700K/GTX 1070 PC. A lot of the requirements are overestimated like this, while some like the GPU can be a bit underestimated, from what I've heard. I'm wondering how this game will perform here.

i do not support Microsoft changing into fucking Apple 2.0, creating their own ecosystem is just creating a Monopoly. there is literally only 1 bennefit from the win 10 aneversery restriction and that is that they have one os to optimize for. other than that its restrictive as hell for everyone who doesn't want to play along with their game.

Anyway Forza isn't really that fun of a racer tbh, and it seems to only be focused on selling DLC cars in my view

@kuddlesworth9419

Whether it supports them or not there will be mods if it's remotely popular

No mod support. MS has paid some lip service to maybe adding some kind of mod support to UWP sometime in the future, but it's not going to happen for this game.

Shame. I am only interested in the classic cars. Surprised to see the Eagle Speedster there. It's a company that takes your E-Type and modernises it for a lot of money. One of the nicest cars in existence. Shame they didn't add the Frontline LE50 which is the same sort of thing, a modernised MGB GT.

I just downloading the Anniversary update for the 3rd time so I can get the game and play it. Really wanted to play a good racing game and since NFS has gone to shit (imo) and Burnout hasn't been a thing in a while I put all of my faith into this game. Since I'm not getting BF1 anymore (at least for now; £104 is a fucking joke for the game + Premium) then I'm throwing my money into Forza and hopefully rightfully so :D

your at recommended so should be all good. I know forza apex had dynamic visual settings so it should be very easy to get a good experience with out fiddling with it. all I would do it set the FPS target and lock the res and leave the rest on dynamic.

The real problem is they are forcing you to have a newer card, even if its worse than an older card. My 5870 with twice the tflops of the 750ti but won't run this game. Ive never seen a game before require a specific video card to operate.  In for a dx11 version.

Looks like my PC should just be able to run this. But I'll probably play on Xbox One. I do want to see though if I can play on PC and Xbox One at the same time with 2 different live accounts though.

Is it coming up with a "your drivers are too outdated" kind of error?

I have Win 10 AU, but I still won't bother with the game so long as it uses UWP. I find that platform horribly restricted, and I don't trust it for posterity: How easy will it be to tweak a UWP game to work in 10 or 15 years' time, on a new iteration of Windows, or other OS? Or, how easy will it be to implement a workaround for a hardware-specific issue with a UWP application? I see buying a UWP game as buying a game with an expiration-date, and which is more vulnerable to access issues, and so I won't do it.

It should be no surprise that a Microsoft-published game is requires Windows 10 / DX 12, since Microsoft wants to push Windows 10, the Windows Store, and its UWP platform. And all MS-published games have been Windows Store / DX 12 for some time, so this is just continuing the trend.

It's only Microsoft-published games that I'll miss out on by not using the Windows Store, and I can live with that. And if Microsoft wants to broaden their reachable market, they'll have to also offer their games on Steam and other platforms.

I still don't understand the hate for UWP.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.
