If you are looking for a pc desk I advise always getting a color which allows the wood veins to be seen. this helps a lot with mouse movement and most of the times will save you the hassles that are typical of mousemats (this is because mice tend to pick up movement on wooden or wood-like surfaces <only the texture matters, not the actual material> much better than on monochromatic ones).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

So a co-worker was looking at Ikea desks and noticed they now ship items. My local Ikea is like an hour away so having a desk shipped to me for $15 and only $2 more for multiple items is pretty good. So check out if you can get items shipped.

Yeah, I live 5 hours east of Vancouver and having the Linnmon/Adils shipped for a mere $19 was almost too good to be true. When it comes to larger/heavier items like sofas, bed frames, and what not, IKEA still charges upwards of $200/$300 for shipping. Those shipping costs are fairly cheap though in the sense that they only charge you a flat rate no matter the amount of packages you order. You could order 15 different items and the shipping would still be the flat $200/$300. Anyways, the shipping costs on these desks/legs are great, I'm sure alot of Canadians will find it very convenient considering how spread out IKEA's are in Canada at least.

@ttam I love the idea. But don't these desks wiggle and move a lot? Really thinking about doing this but want something that wont move and is really supportive. Also would you suggest non-adjustable or adjustable legs?

I say go for the adjustable legs just due to the fact that if the floor is uneven, you can make it even. Mine don't wiggle at all but they are on a very flat floor and I've adjusted each to proper height. If there are wobbles you can buy little rubber pads for $0.99 to put under them and even it out.

I went to the local lubmer supply today and sketched out a desk-top. 64" x 24"(with a slope to 25.5"). A slab of oak plus all the cuts and smoothing the front edge is running me $100 even. I already have a desk. I'm just replacing the crappy top.

Not bad for a real wood top. I would say if you could go deeper than 24" - The side bench to my work desk is 24" and it hardly fits my office phone.

It appears that Ikea now ships items for a really decent price.

One desk & legs would cost me only $15 and 2 sets would be $16!

I often see people asking what desk they should get and one desk comes to my mind.

I have been using the Ikea desks for years now and they work extremely well.

So I figured I would give a little more thought to the topic and potentially others with it.

MYWyu1D.jpg

The great thing about the Ikea desks is that they come in different shapes and colors.

Right now I have one holding THREE(3) 27" Monitors.

So they are a pretty decent size.

The Larger Table-Top; 35.99 USD / 26.52 Euro

This is my preferred table top for desks. The great thing is it comes in a few colors.

For the legs, you have multiple options.

Non-Adjustable: 3.50 USD / 2.58 EUR to 10 USD / 7.37 EUR

Adjustable: 15 USD / 11.05 EUR to 30 USD / 22.11 EUR

Table: 45 USD / 33.16 EUR to 79.99 USD / 58.95 EUR

Non-Adjustable Legs:

Adjustable Legs:

Tables (Alternative to legs)

Being able to choose the looks of the desk help it make it yours.

My personal desks feature the chrome adjustable legs (expensive)

And one of the tables to help with some storage.

The desks are extremely stable and strong. Great build quality as well.

The joy of these desks is that they are extremely easy to assemble.

The desks come with pre-drilled holes which makes it a breeze.

All you have to do is take the screws & wrench that come with the legs,

Line up the holes and screw it together in about 10 minutes.

Obviously these are Ikea desks and can be found online or at Ikea.

Legs & Table Alternatives Online:

These are great desks that can range from 49.99 USD / 36.28 EUR

For the low end of the desks.

Stepping up to the better & adjustable legs the desks start at 95.99 USD / 70.75 EUR

This offers you a little bit more customization for the desk.

They do offers pre-built desks and many other desk top shapes for you to choose.

These have been my go to desks for a while now and I have 3 myself.

They now offer a Stainless Steel table top for 99 USD / 72 EUR

I might have to pick this up myself for a cool new table.

I went to Ikea the other day and they said they are not selling the Galant desks anymore, so I think there is going to be a new series coming out soon or they are just going to completely stop making the most popular desk

Ikea should bring back their Jerker modular desk series

Read: bring back our Swedish Jerkers.

Jerkers were legendary.

Take THAT out of context.

Really nice.

Once I get my own place I'm going to make an epic cherry desk with low-gloss tung oil.... Someday.

Until then I might go for this.
