  1. Should be fine, just check your default mobo bios settings dont automatically disable the IGPU if it detects a dedicated GPU.
  2. Going to go and agree with what you're saying about RAM here. Normally random FPS drops/stutters is lack of RAM or VRAM. I would say that OP should monitor his utilization when in games to see what the issue is.
  3. If you're planning on using your current PC as a Plex server - you dont specify if you want to stream or just use it as a library. Then you dont need anything, just install Plex and point it to your movies folder. You wont need to transcode if you plan to watch your files on Chrome or watch from a local device (on your network) also via chrome as it can DirectPlay. Whenever you do any to set up a dedicated PC/Server/VM or whatever. Its much just the same, move your files over to the server and install Plex. It wont be very taxing so long as you dont plan to Transcode to PS4 etc.
  4. I have set up many RAID's for home and enterprise use. If its just general storage (like you said) stick to 128KB block sizes. Yeah you can gain from setting smaller block sizes if you are storing small files (a HDD must rewrite the whole block, so if you have 512KB blocks and are only storing 15KB files you are wasting a lot of time rewriting whole blocks). I find 128KB to be a happy medium.
  5. As somebody who has x2 1080Ti's I can tell you 1 is not enough for 100Hz 3400x1440p. Also OP dont forget to grab a HB bridge!
  6. Seems like a GPU issue but have you tried reverting your CPU overclock?
  7. Open the AMD Panel and right click the program in your task bar and hold Win+Shift+Left arrow/Right arrow. This will move the window between monitors.
  8. Hi Guys So im thinking about swapping out my 980Ti's (not waterblocked) for some 1080Ti's (Waterblocked). I currently have my 6850k OC'd to and it runs super cool under water. I am assuming that adding two 1080Ti's to my loop will still be ok but perhaps cutting it close. I dont mind spinning my fans up to keep everything quiet.
  9. WD external drives are notorious for having the mini/micro USB ports go bad on them. Might be worth taking apart the enclosure and directly plugging the drive into a desktop and see if you can get all your files that way.
  10. Is your laptop using Wireless to connect to the internet even with the cable? Do you have DHCP enabled on your router?

  12. You forgot one, Xencenter I use a load of them for work (ESXi,Hyper-V and Xencenter). I just recently moved from ESXi to Hyper-V for my home server.
  13. Was your last system Intel? If you have made massive changes to the system hardware your old (current) install of Windows will have the wrong drivers and it will fail to boot. Quickest way to fix it would be to backup your items via another PC and then reinstall. Windows 8 onwards are more tolerant to system changes but 7 is not so good at it.
  14. Now that you have taken the heatsink off the CPU you have no choice. You need to clean off and replace the thermal compound. What you're describing is perfectly normal and correct on a laptop CPU as they are missing the IHS that desktop CPU's have to allow them to distribute the heat more efficiently, so need the extra thermal compound to act as the TIM or buffer for the gap between the CPU and the heatsink.
