Will PC parts become more expensive in the uk if the uk leave the eu ?

actually, the UK has already been surprisingly independant.

 

- you never had free traffic of people.

- you had your own currency.

- iirc there were import and export tax things as well, but dont quote me on that.

 

especially in the computer space i'd expect very little difference, since shit comes straight from asia either way.

Depends on where the electronics enter your market. Do they come from Taiwan/China/Wherever the products are made to for example Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and after that to the UK? Or straight from where it's made to the UK?

If the first: yes. If the latter: no.


Elaboration: if it comes in the Netherlands and after that to the UK, there will be import costs and those costs will probably have to be paid by the consumer

If a Brexit hit the pound as a currency than sure. 

But that's a if of a if of a maybe answer. A Brexit would most likly also hit the Euro so the price may jump a bit for me too :|.

It might make it easier/cheaper to import stuff yourself. EU has pretty strict rules for importing/buying stuff from outside EU shops. Shopping withing continental Europe will remain rather cheap. But instead of getting things without import fees, you need to pay for those. So no more ordering stuff from German websites cheaper than UK ones.

One of the reasons these 'myth' articles often produce OTT reaction in discussion, is because the stark headline often belies the more nuanced content. So I'm glad to see an acknowledgement in the sub-heading that these 'myths' often have an element of truth in them, and that they may have had more substance before the technology moved on.

The main thing that will change is that there will be higher import taxes when goods are being imported from inside the EU. Everything imported from within the EU will be more expencive because of it and the value of the pound will probably end up slightly below where it is now causing all imported goods (all as in, also from non-EU places) to become slightly more expencive. This includes PC components imported from asia.

 

If the imported goods are also being shipped from, for example, Asia into Rotterdam, or anywhere else in the EU for that matter, before being sent out to the UK it will also be hit by the higher import taxes.

Short term, yes.

Long term, no.

 

If the UK leaves, at first most imports will have a bit of an increase to price as trade deals and imports are reworked. However, once that is complete it will most likely drop back into normalcy. However, assuming the UK doesn't fall into a downwards spiral if they leave, and their economy gets that nice little boost as predicted then they should actually become less expensive in time, as the value of the pound goes up, since it no longer will be tied so closely to the floundering euro.

The value of the pound is losing value so yes, prices will rise.

Also after they have left the EU it will probably rise even more because if import taxes and stuff.

I think leaving the EU was a smart move. The EU was trying to force Britain to do alot of things they didn't want to do. Leaving will be hard  at first - as demonstrated by the pound dropping already, but I think in the long run it will be worth it.
