Depends on price/performance, mostly. Very happy with my 980 right now. Will also wait and see how Polaris stacks up against Pascal...

I'll wait for Polaris, and 3rd-party versions of Pascal / Polaris cards to release, before I decide what to do. I'm running an r9 280x for now, and although it's not the fastest card available, games available also aren't exactly pushing many graphical boundaries, and this card handles most all games well, with some minor graphical toning-down in the more demanding games.

 

Before choosing a card, I want to know how AMD's Polaris 10 performs, compared with the 1080, and I want to know the overclockability of those card. Then, I'll want to see what 3rd-party card manufacturers do with these cards.

 

If things look good (which, to me, preferably includes at least one of these cards being notably faster than a 980ti), then I might buy one. If things don't look good, then I'll wait for Vega, and Volta.

 

As fast as a GTX 980ti is, it's not as great a difference from my r9 280x that I'm accustomed to getting when I upgrade - which isn't necessarily from my waiting forever to upgrade, but is from graphics cards having used to make more significant progress year-on-year than what became the game graphics and graphics card development trend with the 360 / PS3 gaming generation. And I want to see something big before upgrading, and then paying for the best that I can get.

 

The information surrounding these new cards is promising, though.

I'm waiting to see how the new cards perform against the GTX 980 Ti/Titan X. If they perform better, then I'll probably sell my Titan X and get myself one of the new ones, although I am leaning towards AMD.

For them. AMD will be going down to 14nm FinFet with Polaris.

I think Vega and Navi will be better. Probably better than Volta but it's hard to say I suppose.

I wasn't sure if AMD and Nvidia Said Vega/GP100(Volta) will have HBM2.
