I see people put together PC builds with 4 TB HDDS and an SSD, does one actually need 4 TB of storage?

Got an Android, never going back to apple again (notice I spelled apple with a lowercase and Android with an uppercase)

yes, content creation could be one of the reasons-storing videos/photos that needs to be edited, could be storing lot's of games, there's a lot of scenarios where someone could need more than 4TB of storage on their PC.

Some people might be wanting to put the HDDS in Raid or if they are doing stuff requiring the storage of video like @TheRandomness said

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I could probably use about 3TB if I downloaded all the games that I have on steam however I won't realistically play all of those games at once though... I have the internet connection to download  games when I need them. When I was doing renders on 3DS max a single frame could easily be 5MB add those up and have them running 30FPS it soon adds up...

I have 2x 1TB hard disks for storage in my system. 1 of which is a steam drive and its maybe half way to just over half way filled, and I dont even have all the games installed. The my other one is for data, like videos and such. I got maybe almost 500 Gigs or more of videos and such. So yeah, I think 4TB is something that might not be necessarily now, but will be good for growing room. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

It really depends on what you do. For me i need and have installed a 3TB drive this year because my 2 1TB drives are almost full with movies, music, documents, pictures and software. 

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I'd say most video makers would use at least 2TB min so 4 isn't out of the question at all, I have a 3TB drive and it's already over a third full even without games like GTA on it, which would push past 2 if I installed them all. So 4TB is not out of the question since content has become more bloated as of late.

I've got 3 1TB(raid-0) raptors in my PC and i record a lot of gameplay. For instance i play a lot of rocket league and i record every single match. I put together fragments of nice goals and saves. I also like to do slow-mo stuff in those video's. To do that right i need to record my matches at 120fps. which makes 1 match around 80GB or more. So if i play a few hours... my drives are full... so yeah i'd really like another one or maybe 2 if i could.

I don't "need" 4TB worth of storage. While it would be nice to have, so I never have to delete anything I download again and/or download my entire steam library, it's not an absolute requirement yet. Until games are 200GB+ each

I personally don't require much storage.  My wife on the other hand, has a camera in her hands almost constantly.  All those photos and videos add up pretty fast.

I can imagine people recording and editing 4k video would need tons of storage.

Yeah, for me, I probably can fill up 4TB pretty quickly. I have a lot of photos, blueprints, scans of documents, and anime / music (Okay, I could probably live without the HD anime). I know if I were to shoot RAW photos, I could probably eat up even more space.

I have almost 6tb full. Backups of school stuff alone take like ~200gb. though, granted, most of the 6Tb is anime & movies.
