Steam now lets you *permanently* delete games from your Steam account/library

TopWargamer

Now I can delete Bad Rats so I can buy it again. It's important to support good indie devs.

So people can finally get rid of Bad Rats that they were gifted by someone.

Can we all just take a moment and ask

WHY THE FUCK IS FALLOUT 4 THE GAME THEY DECIDED TO USE AS THEIR EXAMPLE GAME?

Because why not.

I'd rather giveaway a game to family/friend than delete it permanently and/or auction it for a fraction.

This is not of interest to me. I can just put the ones I like under favorites.

But there are people who have been asking for this, specifically people who compulsively buy games continuously just because they are cheap and end up with huge backlogs and don't play them.

Sadly that'd mean people selling their games, but this would work in that Family Library Sharing with those already existing limitations. It'd be pretty great if I could give some games for these few people. I'd gladly give something like Sniper Elite 3 for my brother as I simply wont ever play that, and ofcourse it would be okay then to prevent passing it on even further.

You can't do it from the client, only help.steampowered.com.

...which you can access through the client so I don't understand what you're talking about.

Also, you could always hide games by selecting "set categories" and checking "hide this game in my library" without all the risk involved of removing the game from your account.

How did they get the game in the first place? That sounds like bad parenting if I've ever seen it.

All my games bought are by parent's permission (that's why I don't play GTA V, even though I really want it and have the money to buy it.) When I've moved out is when I buy whatever games I want. How hard is that for parents?

Pretty straight forward...

Not all parents are that forward thinking at the beginning.

Still sounds like bad parenting.

* I get allowance. I also make money other ways.

* If my parents found out I went to the store by myself without permission (when I was younger, not now) I would be grounded.

* If I SOMEHOW get a Steam Gift Card that's NOT a gift (I bought it for myself,) then sure, I could get whatever games I wanted. But! There's a thing called "discipline" where parents teaches their child how not to be a little shit, I hope your parents taught you that when you were a child. If you're disciplined, you know not to buy that game your parents said not to.

Like for me, if I want to buy a game, I ask my parents (until I've moved out, that's how it works.) If they say "no," I don't buy the game. That's because I was raised good.

I guess you just weren't raised as good? Maybe you'll raise your kids to be better than that.

I used to be quite active here.

Well everyone wants to add more and more games in their steam library, i don't think so anyone will delete game from their steam.

But

Plus point is, if someone has Region Locked game ( accidently activated ) in their steam account, he/she can delete that and buy region free one.

They can't activated region locked games without a VPN though.. so they couldn't have activated it by accident.

Well, PC gaming is all about having options, so yeah, this may be a stupid idea but it's still an available option lel.

Also, is not only here, I've read in other parts before about people who really wanted an option like this.

Not at all sure how you figured that, as not once did I connect that to myself.

You honestly don't think kids would circumvent the rules to get what they want? It's not really bad parenting when the kid disobeys. Surely you're not that daft.

So what if someone hacks into your account and deletes thousands of dollars of games?

What if people exercised basic account safety practices, you know, like not typing their password in some 1337 h4x00r website or something.

Hell, Valve is giving better price cuts to people that have 2-step verification turned on, just because they are tired of dealing with computer illiterate people using the word "hack" everywhere as if some actual hacker cracked their password or whatever...

Your accounts don't get hacked (unless the server itself gets hacked, which most likely means nobody will have to actually *log in* to your account...). "Scammed" is the word you guys are looking for, not "hacked".

THIS.

It's such a lengthy process, I'm sure that a hacker would not want to spend hours and hours deleting Steam games. Anyways, if you get your account back you could probably open a ticket to get the games back.

I used to be quite active here.
