LG is debuting Computer in US with LG Gram laptop... that weighs under 1 Kg or 2.2 pounds

jos

Now the company is wading into a very crowded computer market by releasing a series of high-end ultrabook-style laptops in the US for the first time. The series kicks off with three fixed-configuration models, one 13-inch and two 14-inch, each with slim, lightweight bodies, Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, and full HD IPS displays. The LG Gram 13 and LG Gram 14 models will sell for $899 to $1,399 in the US.

LG Gram 14 so named because it weighs only 980 grams, or 2.16 pounds.

I thought they already sell it in US.. but why did they stay away, anyone considering to go for LG?

LG is like Samsung. They've got hands in places you didn't even know existed :D

Seriously though, they've got their hands in a few markets.

I don't see who it will not thermal throttle, unless a broadwell i5 is that much better than a core M that the macbook has, although I haven't looked that much into how ultrabooks perform and heat up so it might be fine. or maybe it has fans blowing at the hinge

It looks absolutely awesome, but did anyone else notice how much the screen bounced when he was typing?

Looking from the video, I see loads of screen wobbling on a solid surface when typing and a bezel underneath the display as thick as a standard desktop tower.

Everything... Even Apple has higher res screen on there 13" macbook pro's and considering you can get a 3200x1800 on similarly priced laptops this is a huge disappointment in my eyes.

@as96 No, it's really not.

Still using 1080p here... I'd probably jump if my monitor takes a shit, but other than that, I have no reason to.

Honestly, unless you need that extra space, 1080p is fine, especially with such a small screen. You're making a fuss out of nothing.

I can barely find decent FHD monitor for €800-€900.

It's just a waste of battery nothing more, there isn't enough content that goes above 1080p except SOME and I repeat SOME youtube videos, except for that everything usually tops at 1080, and don't even start to talk about games since this is a laptop.

Nice, hive give me an OS-less option and i may consider this over the intel Chromebook from Acer. Would be a good complement to my desktop

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

Ok so if your monitor died you would go for a higher res screen but if you are going to buy a brand new laptop you won't? makes total sense.

No i'm not, 1080p has been around for ages it's time to let it go ffs why are people so fixated on keeping it around yet when it comes to anything else tech related it's more more more?

@WereCat have no idea where you live but i can get a 4k monitor easily for $800- 900 and Aus is notorious for having overpriced products.

@as96 And this is were i just don't even bother arguing with you since your clearly one of those people who whine when a manufacture puts anything above 1080p screen in a phone.

Looks good, but I cannot see myself buying laptop now for over $1,000 without a good GPU.
