I think the best and only to communicate is to make a code language between two persons and communicate that way, many will say its childish because many children do it, my brother and I made a code language with words and common facial expressions when little, we still use it to communicate in public places even when both of us are 20+.

In my case the solution is a home-hosted server and a bunch of people with a self-signed root certificate on their devices ^_^

Finding a cave in a third world country should be safe enough... There's a few places I've been to where it should be safe... like the one of the former bases of my country's revolutionaries (It's a chamber in a cave in the mountains... not even the tour guides go that deep without trained rescue personnel in the group...)...

There's so much wrong with this article it's hurting my mind.

 

1. The most secure way to communicate is to go to Antarctica, write notes to each other, and burn the notes when you're done.

2. Using a proprietary product and expecting that to be the most secure way to communicate? That was funny.

 

If you want a secure way to communicate using electronic devices, wait for lowRISC to be released, run a fully-libre OS on it like Debian (main repo only. no contrib or non-free), then use Tor and Jitsi with OTR (or any libre XMPP/OTR client) on both sides. You could also use email with GPG. Is it the easiest? No. Will anyone actually do this? Maybe a few if any.

 

The closest you're going to get right now is to get some old Thinkpads and flash Libreboot and Debian stable (again, main repo only) or Trisquel onto them.

 

Either way, the most secure way to communicate is definitely not by using iPod Touches.
