Linus + Luke. You built a $10,000 Machine in 11:00minutes. Pathetic.

 

A typical Linus slap-together machine to drive Youtube Views & Likes through the roof.

 

No thought was even present during this video, the lack of style, color choices, cooling all went out the window.

Combined you are supposed to represent a passion for technology, and yet we are inundated with countless garbage machines to spike your Youtube revenue.

 

It's becoming more apparent by each video, each WAN Stream and each obnoxious $10,000 machine that you have lost touch with your original viewer base and now solely driven by cash.

 

Go back to your roots Linus & Luke, take the time to build something with passion & purpose.

You don't think they already had the components to make it?

Any true enthusiasts would relish the opportunity to make such a build, they wouldn't half-hazardously slap it together in 11:00 minutes i assure you.

Someone's a little salty today.

I've been following ltt for years now, z since it's inception as ncixtt. So I'd be willing to say I am an "original viewer", I find nothing wrong with what they're doing lately. He's certainly come a long way since he was tearing open boxes in a tiny office or outside in a courtyard in front of ncix. That's not a bad thing, the videos are more entertaining, and still contain helpful knowledge. They're also considerably more professional, as side from the occasional audio loop, unedited broll, or unremoved footnote

It's just meant to be a fun video, take a breath dude, chill.

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that they aren't enthusiasts. If you take this point any further, it'll be a full no true scotsman fallacy. Also, they took way more than 11:00 to build it. Its called editing, so that more people will enjoy it and not get bored.

Totally agree, video was an absolute joke, it seemed like they threw it together as fast as possible just to make a video. I understand they're moving to the new office and are short on time, but take the time to make videos like this stand out when you use $10,000 worth of components, or just don't make the video at all.

Yes salty.

Of course LTT has improved the quality of their content, staple of their modern day success, it does not change the fact that it's obnoxiously obvious that the better part of their content now is a mere cash-grab, the sheer number of commercials per video/stream is a prime example. (And i don't blame them, it works)

 

Hell any trained monkey can throw together an identical machine in 11:00minutes.

That machine deserve no recognition aside from the money put into it.

 

A prime example of planning, the whole room water cooling prodject, months went into the planning & building. Something that should be been undertaken with this.

I'm sorta new to LTT and even a bit new into the enthusiast custom building of PCs, I've always been a software chick and just bought off the shelf computers. With that said, I felt the video was contrived and not a lot of passion was present in the build. One of the things that drew me into LTT initially was the passion and desire to share with, even stupid asses like me who don't know shit about hardware, people all cool things tech and the do's and don't of tech. This wasn't even close.

 

I'd love to see a video where there's excitement and passion, the reason to select certain components over others (was it just laying around or was this a good design choice), the WOW factor when it's turned on and all the pretty lights, and then actually seeing that bad boy in action. 

 

Then, I'd love to see these guys auction off pieces like this to help worthy charities much like Blizzard does for Children's Hospital with the old server blades. How freaking cool would that be? 

 

But this is just my take and I'm sure all you old school guys will be like stfu bitch you don't know quality when you see it. IMHO this wasn't a quality video for such an expensive piece of hardware.

Although I don't agree with your post entirely, OP, I do agree with Lays' comment:

But I do sort of see where you're coming from. It seems like videos now from LTT are 5 minutes of content and then the last 5 minutes is advertising. And on Techquickie, the videos are 1:50 content, 1:50 advertising. I understand that they need to make money from more than just views, but IMO there's incredibly too much advertising.

He already explained this to you people. No one wants to watch a Honda Civic race around a track and get good gas mileage, they want ferraris and tanks. They could build 5 different consumer PCs based around $1000 and have one intel based with AMD graphics cards, intel Nvidia, AMD CPU and Nvidia, and AMD CPU and AMD GPU. Then it would be cool

Hell any trained monkey can throw together an identical machine in 11:00minutes.

That machine deserve no recognition aside from the money put into it.

 

A prime example of planning, the whole room water cooling prodject, months went into the planning & building. Something that should be been undertaken with this.

Do you really expect them to spend months on every project? For a good release cycle, they can generally only use products for a week or so, and only do gian projects very occasionally. If they did something like whole room watercooling every week, they wouldn't be able to make many videos and would go bankrupt pretty fast due to the cost of making those.

well you know, there's that business side of thing & then there's the actual passionate side of things , i'm not saying that you're wrong, but you know , they're at a point where they have to do something every time consistently or end up risk loosing what they've build up so far and they may seem desperate at this point, but going back to roots is probably not an option for them since they gave up on some of that classic things for a somewhat 'good on paper' standard approach to making videos which they were really good at..

The video was 11 mins. I HIGHLY doubt Luke actually built that PC in 11mins. 

 

That being said, yeah, he did more or less slap that machine together. Meh. Who cares? It was just a fun overkill build anyways.

honestly the build wasnt honestly something that was insane to me personally. its kinda the same thing weve seen time and time again on youtube id like to see something more innovative or more creative with a build especially coming form linus and luke.

Do you actually believe that the video was unedited and it actually did take Luke 11 minutes to build it? No, it took him way longer to build it. All the boring parts were just edited out to keep it entertaining.

He already explained this to you people. No one wants to watch a Honda Civic race around a track and get good gas mileage, they want ferraris and tanks. They could build 5 different consumer PCs based around $1000 and have one intel based with AMD graphics cards, intel Nvidia, AMD CPU and Nvidia, and AMD CPU and AMD GPU. Then it would be cool

The point isn't in the pricing of hardware. I (you can read my Top Gear analogy in the other content rant thread) like when they are overviewing and playing around with expensive stuff. But in this case I have to agree. The video in all was really boring to watch. There was few "mistakes" but in all it wasn't anything special.

If they need quick content, why not do basic unboxings where they don't really prepare and are as surprised as viewer to what comes out of the box. Like have couple Lootcrates to unbox. Thats, with 3-5min video, already more enjoying to watch than 11 minutes of basic PC building.

 --  This is a great LTT video they did back in Jan of this year building a 4k gaming rig. This video is far superior to this 10,000 we have parts laying around our warehouse video. While the 10k video doesn't necessarily need to go into some of the building details the 4k gaming video did, it shows a stark contrast in effort. It's awesome that they build out crazy builds but it seems like this video relative to other videos LTT produces is pretty poor in content and quality.
