According To 8chan's /tech/, Windows 10 Could Be Fairly Malicious

Enjoy your gaming computer when DirectX 11 goes end-of-life then.

Since Windows 10 will be the "last Windows" and all, and the only way to get DX12.

Not that I'm in a rush myself. It's just that if I have to hassle to block out a bunch of data mining built into Windows 10 I have no other choice if I want to play games in the future.

Unless Linux picks up A LOT of fucking pace for gaming and productivity in the coming 12 months.

Based on the past you can still play games based on newer API versions than your hardware/OS support level, e.g. a DX9/10 card can run DX11 games with reduced feature sets.

I called it from the very beginning when we learned that W10 would have automatic updating that you can't turn off.

Yeah, there might be a tool now to turn that off, but I'm willing to bet that it ends up "not really turning it off". I, personally, am going to wait until at least January before switching over. I really wish they weren't being assholes about Dx12 being on windows 10 only.

Actually you can turn it off... http://www.cnet.com/pictures/8-windows-10-settings-you-should-change-right-away/2/

You realise backwards compatibility is a thing? DX9 Hardware can run DX 11 Software, without certain features.

Only if the game supports it. And I think once DX12 games made primarily for DX12 start to come out, it will be a very bad experience to not have the multithreaded breadth of DX12, even if you can turn off DX12-exclusive rendering techniques and run it in legacy mode. Simply because the game will be optimized to use more of the hardware than DX11 can handle. Games are very scalable on the GPU side, not so much on the CPU side.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

"Windows 10 uses P2P for updates! Ah, Microsoft is Satan!!!!!"

And yes, you can turn off Windows Defender. Mine is turned off. It was turned off by default, since I had BitDefender installed.

For most people: fantastic, better speeds regardless of severs and such. But this is literally going to costs millions and millions of dollars in complains and bitching by customers who only have access to severely capped ISPs like satellite services. It will render their poor but usable service completely fucking useless with something like a 5 or 10gb per month data cap.

Well everything that you can turn off just turn it off simply. I will want to know more about this in detail but I always turn stuff off that want to gather, remember or send data and show suggestions or whatever. Don't need them and I'm as much if not more efficient to do stuff alone than those so called smart features.

Disable:
feedback, cortana, win defender, there's a tool for updates to regulate them, app and content suggestions, account sync, check and manage privacy options, and as far as Edge and those services I'm not sure.

That's for now what I do. Definitely would like to see more info about this so called malicious ... topic :3

Hey it is only 10 or 15% performance difference: you can get that by turning off a few settings. I bet it will be a long while before a game truly exploits something like heavily multithreaded gaming to it's max where the experience on windows 7 will be just extremely poor by comparison: after all many of my favorite games right now still run under DX9, I can hold up a couple of years until someone inevitably modifies the OS heavily like in the past to remove many of that stuff.

And yes it is a crap shoot and highly unlikely to happen but we could get decent enough performance with Linux and Vulkan. Or even better: just Vulkan in Win7 since there's no reason why that wouldn't work.

Hey Misanthrope, Windows doesn't download anything if you have metered connection. You just set it as metered and done. Windows has had this feature since Win 8.0.

It sounds like most of this stuff is from the Insider Preview where things were enabled for obvious reasons, feedback. Even the background image in those pictures was one that was in the Preview and they also did NOT include the winver application in the screenshots to prove that it is final build and not Insider Preview.

Someone should post screenshot from final build to verify. I don't have access to Windows 10 myself to test.

An article written by Microsoft basher, that scrap the bottom of the pocket, including plastic bucket chards in the hope that people will won't upgrade to Windows 10 and wishfully thinking it would be turned into a failure.

Everything listed is already implemented since Windows 7 or before, beside P2P windows update system which can be disabled.

They provide no facts or evidence of anything...

In other news: People should drop Android, iOS and MacOS, and even all Linux distros, because a hacker can compromise the OS update system, and release fake ones which include malware and viruses! Each company and group should release their OS update via CDs. More at 11!

It is 11 o'clock news: malware and virus maker sends fake upgrade disks to people for them to install... People should code their own updates and fixes!

Yep, these are from the Insider Preview as suspected. You can tell by the Edge browser.

In the Preview Edge browser had smiley face feedback button and the hub button was a folder with a star. In the Final build the hub is 3 horizontal lines and smiley face feedback button is gone. (In Final build "Share" button replaced where smiley face was.)

This is their screenshot, look in the very bottom right at the Edge browser.

post-385-0-78063000-1438182515_thumb.png

And now look at a screenshot of Edge from Final build. (Excuse the dark theme difference.)

post-385-0-91394700-1438182560_thumb.jpg

Many things are forced on in the Insider Preview because that's the whole point of a beta and feedback collection.

Basically just another BS post, what else could you expect from 8chan really. My favourite part is how they put those links on the archive site as if they're uncovering some secret info that could be deleted when exposed. Hahahaha.
