Alright, i ma install this and fuck the long ass queue times. Also, does it automatically upgrade your previous Windows key to Windows 10 key?

This Windows Update is a piece of shit , can't even isntall my gpu driver properly. And no i don't want to use a year old driver ffs Microsoft

Yeah, couldn't get it working through Windows Update last night. Guess I'll try again this evening

Lol, this thread is kinda of hilarious. Windows made this process way too complicated for tech people by making it so simple ;). If you just leave it to itself and have patience windows 10 will download automatically and upgrade when you allow it to, no problem. The problem arises when you try to force it xD

Yea it's stupid isn't it. I don't get Microsoft sometimes. Why do they always choose the hardest most complicated way of doing things.

 

It hardly inspires confidence. Like for serious Microsoft, the whole point of downloading something in advance is so people can install it precisely at the moment when it gets released. Why even implement that, if it wasn't the plan. MS logic I guess.

Yup, as you noticed on your later post, it is downloading.

 

 

I don't think so. My Surface Pro 2 doesn't have it yet, either. You and my Surface Pro 2 (my desktop is on insider preview), are probably on a different wave. So maybe later today, or tomorrow, or next day, or if unlucky.. August. :S

 

I've heard there is no metro for the surface line on windows 10, am I mistaken?

All AC games run fine, BF3/4 work fine, Xenoverse works like normal, Bioshock-I works great(actually a bit better).

CS:Go works great!

 

All my games work, haven't tested any GG games as I still play a lot of tycoon type games.

What issues you had

Artifacting, crashes that have been recovered, crashes that makes it so it only detects one monitor so it forces me to restart my PC...

 

 

In fact, as I opened firefox to check my LTT notifications, I had a driver crash on the older 353.30 driver, but I've had a lot more on the newer 353.5x

Thanks for that.  I did another reboot and the in game cursor is fine now.  Gonna chalk it up to an anomaly or I may have gummed up the works poking around the control panel and display setting earlier.

The Surface Pro 1, Pro 2, Pro 3, and Surface 3 have the same experience as your and any other laptop/desktop running Windows 10.

The Surface 1 and 2 (non Pro), are the only one not getting Windows 10, because Windows RT has been pulled the plug. They'll get Windows 8.1 Update 3 (or Update 2 because Update 2 wasn't officially out as Update 2...just make manners more complicated), which will have a few Windows 10 features added to these devices. It is rumored to come with the Start Menu showed at the BUILD event last year and that what Windows Insiders used in the early builds, and not the one in Windows 10 that we have now.

WOW my PC had serious issues, like real serious issues.

 

It auto downloaded the files last night on its own (at no point had I tried to force anything) then did something that took a few minutes before saying

 

Windows Must Check Your Computer Before Installing

 

with a Check Your PC button.

 

Clicked that and nothing happened so I shut down and went to bed (it was 12:23am).

 

Woke up this morning and straight away it tried to upgrade but after sitting there for 15 mins on the progress bar it failed with no error message. I tried running setup.exe but it said there was no boot.wim so after that I tried using the command everyones been posting. That forced the upgrade to try again but this time it failed instantly with 2 error messages (both were just generic An Error Occurred messages). Looked through this thread and saw a few people saying just make an ISO from the ESD so I did that, ran it and it too just failed with no message about what actually happened. Tried Windows Update again and this time it gave me an instant error message (files missing or corrupt), as it turns out running Setup from the ISO cleared out the windows.BT folder and filled it with different files, Windows Update was sure it had the files present but they weren't actually there so I've actually had to clean install 8.1 Pro this morning in order to start the upgrade process again. Its on 99% downloading right now :)

 

The lesson of this story, don't piss around trying to force things cause you're likely to just make things worse.

Holy fuck Windows 10 killed my computer. Not really but I'm having some serious performance issues at the moment. Computer is taking several minutes to reboot and everything keeps crashing. May have to just wipe it and start fresh.

Yeah it does that.. but after like 3 restarts and windows update, NVIDIA drivers.. everything becomes smoother.

 

It's just temporary :D
