Windows 10 has been, or will be downloaded today for those who reserved - Don't delete C:\$windows.~BT

GoodBytes

You don't need the licence key anymore... When you install windows 10 (fresh) it will ask you for a key however you just skip it. Once your pc goes online it will realize your motherboards Unique id has already been activated to a windows 10 version. If that version matches the one you installed it will automatically activate!

This is how Microsoft is doing it now.

I just realised that I couldn't get the notification / reserve thing cause my computer is part of a domain... gg.

I disjoinded the domain and downloaded the iso with the media creation tool. Finger cross that ever works fine :)

I'm already done, but another question though if i'm planning to do a fresh install Windows 10 in the future which key should i use? Should i use Windows 8.1 key since i'm upgrading to Windows 10?

You might want to remove that image. It has your ID on it. Just in case. There is a program that will tell you your W10 activation code somewhere. https://neosmart.net/blog/2014/windows-10-embedded-product-key-tool/ I think it's this one but not sure. You will need to use the new W10 product key that it generates. Unless it just converts the key to a W10 key but stays the same. I think that is more likely though.

Ok so guys, for those who got Windows Update failing... this is because Microsoft has evaluated that your system is not ready for Windows 10 currently, due driver issues. My Surface Pro 2 is guilty of this. I can force it, but I might have issues, including, possibly reduce battery life. (I actually know the issues as I used to have Win10 insider preview on it).

So for those who forced the install, be aware that issues you face, including performance, unable to sleep/wakeup, etc. is most likely driver related.

Are you referring to these errors? Probably a good thing that I held off using the media creation tool then.

Idk i installed with the media creation tool but the key the win10pro has cant activate i get error 0xC004F034:

"The software licesing serviced reported that the license could not be found or was invalid." i went to online help and it says to go into store and check for a valid license but the store server crashes.

GG wp miscrosoft, or i should have waited for the taskbar small icon to tell me when to update, their server are probably broken or offline.

Now should i install win8.1 again and check for reservation again? that might not even be posible anymore.Trash upgrade process typical for MS.

You do get one as far as I know it's just hidden somewhere. I think the program just finds it and gives  you it. I think it just makes it easier.

I think it goes with your MS account which you use to log-in, and of course motherboard to know if it is the same system or a different one with the same account.

But if I have a retail version of W8.1 (non OEM) that I upgraded to W10, it doesn't matter what system hardware I use, does it? I could install on another computer with my Microsoft Account? (Of course after having disabled the other computers)

Yes. My list is also growing on my side.

But if you open the "Get Windows 10" app, and click on "More information". It states that Microsoft is working with hardware partners to make their stuff Windows 10 ready.

I think they are trying to avoid a Vista... where people upgraded but their system was not ready (lack of specs, and more commonly among Power Users/Gamers who had the specs needed for the OS: Lack of proper drivers).

Ah ok good at least now I know there's a reason for being locked out and not because of rollout phases or timezones.  Kinda of annoying though, brand new laptop, was hoping for no issues with the update.  Oh well guess I can stop being so impatient now that I know there's a reason :P

Do you think this one going to work?

Doubt it. Maybe wait, someone will come out with a tutorial soon. Try this and tell me if it works. https://neosmart.net/OemKey/ It says it's for OEM but I am not sure if it works without OEM. It should though I mean they are the same OS's.

I went through the ISO route, installed it fresh on my laptop.  It won't activate even though I'm signed in to my windows account and reserved a copy on my laptop a long time ago.

I should have just waited until I got the notification it's ready to go.

Now I gotta roll back everything.

Bah. The damn Corsair Link crap seems to be preventing me from upgrading right now because of fucking course Corsair hasn't bothered to update it. The piece of shit barely works with 8.1 without a fight.
