The LGBT parades in Portland, Oregon are far different. You've been exposed to literally all possible negative aspects of LGBT pride...

Well then don't watch them I suppose?

Shouldn't public decency laws still apply to parades?

That pic is amazing. If you don't like them because of it than you're just a hater.

Do you complain about women in bikinis / showing their breasts in public?

I wouldn't mind if you came here to actually wanting to learn something, but right off the bat it's obvious you came here just to rant. So fuck off please.

How exactly did I oppose being openly straight? No one is saying you have to like naked men. If you don't, the solution is pretty fucking simple, don't look at them / don't go to gay parades.

Why even bother posting in an LGBT thread if you don't like it?

Really? You're going on about why you don't think there's a need for LGBT pride, how being GSM is compareable to being a regular person, how you're being forced to see LGBT things. You also brought up how some people like to dress in pride. That's not starting a conversation, that's you bitching and provoking an argument. Not what this thread is for.

Yea, your brain is just deficient.

WWYD if you lived in Japan?

I don't like seeing or even thinking about half-naked men...

So why are you looking at them, thinking about them, and even posting in this thread?

I suggest you get therapy, you seem to need it.

Okay, let's have a conversation then. How would you describe an appropriate location for a pride event?

Okay, I should have specified that your answer shouldn't be so vauge that it could be interpreted as pretty much anyting. Also, I never mentioned Oregon.

Really, you have no LGBT discrimination where you live? Maybe you have equal laws where you live, but that doesn't mean there's no discrimination. A lot of people get it from peers and their families.

I'm Trans* - specifically a transwoman, pre-HRT.

My coming out involves me essentially spending almost 5 years in extreme (and increasing) pain and worry over who I really was, culminating in me 'coming out' to my great friend & HR manager at my tech job first. Then, about 5 hours later, getting drunk and telling my best friend of the time.

I'm actually in the process of documenting my transition (tell my story in more depth) and discussing the issues related to transitioning (depression, social issues, etc) on my YouTube channel. Below are the video's I'd suggest you check out first:

/snip/

Fair warning, the last one there (The Transmisogyny Funtime Hour) is a 18 minute unscripted affair... so... yeah, watch at your own peril.

I thought I'd just say... The guts required to get on video and talk about this stuff! Like... Holy balls.

Way more guts than I ever had. Dunno if you're on the various and numerous drugs, but yeah, get on the drugs. Even the change in brain chemistry is brilliantly helpful.

I seem to remember that importing them to the UK is pretty hard.. But eh, if the therapy people are being slowarses maybe it'd be worth it.

Edit: Hurr just watched the end of that last video, ignore me I'm an idiot.

@Holford

I am in the uk and a trans woman also. The NHS is fairly good in some regards about this stuff, but very slow on other aspects. Some people do get through the system faster than others though. It took me 3 years just to get an appointment at the NHS gender clinic in London and get on hormones. I wouldn't suggest that anyone self medicate with them though, as it can be dangerous. But there are other options here in the UK if potential NHS waiting times are deemed too long, but that requires money for private medical care. One thing I do suggest for anyone going through this, is to get facial hair removal before anything else. This one thing will cause the main issues going forward, and it is not always feasible to just cover it up with make up.

Dangerous if one is an idiot :D I suppose the same is true for self medding to begin with but really all one needs is a modicum of research, a basic understanding of the endocrine system and a doctor to monitor blood tests.
Back years ago when I transitioned I very much objected to the entire concept of someone else who barely knew me getting to decide what path I took with my life based on little more than circumstantial evidence and psychology. I didn't need anyone to tell me who or what I was. And hell... its not as if the alternative for me was a pleasant option.
Still do I suppose, but the Australian dollar dropping made it cheaper to get the stuff here so off to the incredibly willing doctor I went.

I still do very much believe that if one is sure enough and smart enough to do the research/find a doctor who can take blood samples, that the risks are very minimal. In some cases the information being available can save the lives of kids are on the cusp of killing themselves out of hopelessness. The odd stupid person OD'ing because they didn't do any research or checks doesn't particularly phase me.

/kids, don't listen to me. I am, quite frankly, mad. Always have hope.

What did that guy who got banned do? Did he just come on here and act really homophobic/anti-LGBT?

From context of what other people were saying it seemed like he just came on to make a massive rant with at least part of it being about pride parades and his dislike of them. Surprisingly something I and many homophobes share.

But yeah, it just seemed like a lot of needless hate ranting.

@Serin I am on 4mg of Estradiol Valerate per day, which is a considerably cheap medication. I have a friend who is on 6mg per day, and another who is on 10mg per day. The other medication, Zoladex 10.8mg, is a subdermal implant taken every 3 months. Which is placed in the layer of fat in the abdomen, and It costs a bare minimum of £1000 just for one. These are the current recommended medications for HRT via the main London gender clinic. This is why, at least in the uk; it is better to get a prescription for the medications. The price of one NHS prescription in the UK is £8.20. The problem is that not all UK family Doctors will monitor someone on hormones without the explicit recommendation from a NHS gender clinic, and some others will not even prescribe hormones when they have been told to by a gender clinic. But regardless of that, it is always best to only begin hormones once the gender clinic has sanctioned their use. As the individual may not know how much they need to take per day, or even if there liver can handle the medications.

That's incredibly nice of you to say! I spent the following 3 days / week after posting that last one having several mini to major freakouts with my wife & friends over 'exposing too much'. I'm leaving them up now as, on the off chance someone who is earlier in the process, or unsure of who they are, sees them and it helps them :)

I was looking at going private, and still am thinking about it. The biggest thing for me at present (and that I talk about in my The Transmisogyny Funtime Hour video) is that my eating disorder & subsequent internalised transmisogyny, has prevented me from being able to progress further in my own mind (wrongfully so). That all said, I'm getting there, and slowly learning to love my body size, so I can learn to love the body I want :)

Thanks both!
